What have you done to your car today?

Took it for a 1/4 mile test, spent a while prepping the car, sorting the external 10hz GPS receiver, prepping the datalogging software on the phone then I completely forgot to switch off the traction control, doh

It bogged badly from the top end of 1st through to 2nd hence the shocking 0-60mph time but still managed an 11.14 @ 127mph with a 0-100mph time nearly 2.4 seconds faster than my old C5 RS6 which was nice.

The N95 mocking may now commence!

Hmmm...

- Oil - Mobil 1
- Oil filter
- Air filter
- Power steering fluid
- EGR valve cleaned (turbo checked)
- Replacement driver's side window switch (scrappy)
- Replacement rubber & plastic door trim (scrappy)
- New tie rod ends
- New front lower wishbones
- New shock absorbers all round
- Every bit of rubber replaced with the exception of the 2 rear sub-frame mounting bushes - they've still got a good few years left
- Replacement gearbox from 80k mile crash damaged car
- New clutch
- New dual-mass flywheel
- Section between cat and back-box cut and new section welded in (cat and backbox still got a few years left, mid-pipe would only last one more winter and it's all one section)
- 2x new Conti SportContact 5s
- Geometry
- Headlight lenses polished
- Front brake pads

Hmmm... pretty sure that's it... and it may have taken 3.5 days rather than just today ;)

Crap pictures as it is dark and they're just quick snaps, but...

Replaced my candle sidelight bulb and my broken sidelight bulb...

They were a huge pain to replace... :p

You're calling 4.16 seconds to 60 as shocking :o

Well he does have 730HP, AWD, launch control, a snappy dual clutch gearbox, etc. :p

Could get that down to 3.6 I reckon. :D

As a side note, I think he can get from 0 to 60 to 0 to 60 to 0 to 60, before my car can go from 0 to 60... :p

Still waiting to source a manifold and downpipe, really want to get this turbo conversion finished, everything else is fitted and ready.

Oh actually I'll probably need a new cat or decat, I think being a yob messing with launch control has nuked my cat

lol

I know the feeling. I have to remove the entire headlight cluster to replace my bulbs :(

That would have been the only way to do it without scraping/cutting my hands when trying to squeeze them into the tiny access holes so that I could undo the clips, however to take the headlight clusters out on my car, you have to first take the front bumper (including the lower parts, and the grille) off... :D

Nope, no L/C and not an Audi dual clutch box strong enough, so just a normal slush box auto. It "should" do a 3.5 second as the tuners own car does a 3.1 with a tadge more power than mine (800 IIRC) but really 0 to 60 tests aren't ideal, it's more happy with tests like 30-120mph in 8 seconds where it shines.

Started taking bits off to enable removal of the turbo on my Saab 9-3. Smoked out my road and driveway quite spectacularly when moving the car into the drive.

Some of the bolts are interesting to get to, but my next door neighbour appeared and is a mechanic/AA man/ex garage owner and took one look, disappeared into his garage/AA van and reappeared with whatever super convenient tool seemingly exactly made for the job he could find.

Legend.

Tomorrow will be more of the same and hopefully will get the turbo off and replaced. Need to flush the intercooler out too and clean the intake hoses as they're rather oily. Only 2.5l came out the sump when I drained it. There's a lot of oil sloshing about in there somewhere where it shouldn't be!
