What have you done to your car today?

Why would you even want a corolla for that money? Sorry but they're crap

If you want the engine buy a celica, at least they're sleeker looking and despite having an equally disgusting interior you'd feel a bit better driving it for your £2-3kk plus more people know what they are so easier todispose of.... imo

You're looking at inflated low end dealer pricing just to easily shift on that polo which youd get a few hundred quid for anyway, sell it and buy something similar- for the right money privately.

I don't recall being so underwhelmed by anything else in my life than when I drove a Celica with the same drivetrain. I can only imagine the Corolla isn't as good.

Installed my mobile phone holder, I had one in the daily and used to put it into the supra, anyway it became a pain so I decided to buy another one for the supra.

I also secured my dash cam, the heat from the sun made the double sided tape come off!

Same actually, always liked the looks of the Celica too.

If it had a turbo it might be more interesting!

Tbh the Corolla looks crap anyway it's just so bland and dated not to mention slow. How much money have u got to spend? As any sort of warm/hot hatch is going to be a shed when your trying to buy one for around 2.5k.
Have u looked at the Fiesta ST150 or the Mondeo ST220? There much better value for money around 3k

That slow Corolla is most likely faster than your ST220 not to mention the car is actually of newer design to the ford. I have been in a Se7en stage 2 cammed facelift and it was faster than an ep3 type-r but cheaper even including the cam swap. It seems like Acme doesn't like Japanese cars so he is better off sticking with German. Something like an Octavia VRS or a Ibiza/leon Cupra.

You have weird tastes u like an old man looking dull Corolla that looks like it was made in 1992 yet u don't like ST's or Clio 182's :p
If u didn't like the way the Corolla drove then your going to have to dismiss them. And don't get another Polo there's ton's of better cars than them.

What about an EP3 type R?

I've never claimed my ST220 is fast  I've had a go against a T Sport with a guy I used to work with and i left him easily at higher speeds. The T Sport is 1 second slower to 60, 40bhp short and has a 140 top speed compared to my 155 if your wanting to compare

You realise this all means pretty much nothing?

For example, I can't get the type R to 60 in anything like the book time as i'm not willing to hammer it.

Highly unlikely you "easily left" a car with 40bhp less, that's a bit lighter if both cars were in the right gear

I did. The ST220 can be taken to 60 easily in 2nd gear and It really goes when left in 4th at motorway speeds. I know book times don't always mean anything I've been completely spanked by a Mazda 3 MPS now there fast! :D

The T-Sport is far from being a crap car, I think it is an excellent car, with an excellent engine, it just isn't what I'm used to.

People need to be less critical of my taste in cars... :p

Congratulations you can read Parkers. The book figure on the Corolla is higher to make the Celica look great when in fact they have exactly the same gearbox and engine. The 0-60 is more in the low 7 second range. If anything the Corolla has more power to the wheels due to its electric pas pump. An ST220 might be quicker over 100 but the Corolla will get to 100 quicker and will be a lot more nimble on its feet. After all it is around 300 kilograms lighter which also gives it a higher BHP/T! It was not a dig at your car simply your ignorance of classing the Corolla T-Sport as boring, bland and slow.

What about an EP3 type R?

I think he would like one and that's why he went to try out the Corolla as it is 90% a Type-R but his budget should get him a good Corolla whereas his budget would get him a nail of a Type-R.

Got told by the missus, landlord and neighbours that the exhaust is too loud so that'll be modified this weekend :(

Have you even seen a Motors thread before :D

Second coat of fk1000p on the car before the months worth of rain that's forecast tomorrow!
I must be weird, I actually like putting wax on a car.

Had an alignment and my wheels balanced and tyres checked. Front left tyre is stepped due to the alignment, so now I get a nice vibration sound as if my bearing has gone!

Finally picked it up - huzzah \o/

Surprisingly refined and quiet cruising on the motorway considering it's a 4-pot dagdag. Quick it ain't, however. Averaged 50mpg cruising at 75 coming back from the garage. Could be worse.

Apologies for absolutely appalling iPotato pic. Green looks great nicely polished in the sun. Need to clean all the excess polish away though. The garage's 'detailer' left lots of white polish in all the books and crannies. Joy.
