What have you done to your car today?

Drove the beast today for the first time to get used to it and it really isn't that bad. Need to get used to sitting half a meter higher up and pedals that you can depress with a feather but other then that was fine. No better or worse really then the A1 I drove in Ireland at the start of the year but that had terrible visibility.

Makes a nice change to be able to change gears with you little finger instead of having to summon the power of h-man like in the M, having almost 360 degree of visibility and being able to see above grass height on junctions. I will miss the power of the M but its like getting my first car again, just revving the nuts off it knowing that you are not doing 3 figures.

Stupid car though does not have a normal double din slot, its slightly different in size (of course why wouldn't it be...) but I managed to get my old unit to fit but as it didn't have Bluetooth I went and got the cheapest double din pioneer unit Halfords sold (and it was cheaper there then online ) and fitted that.

Unit seems fine for the price with it features and its quick, only real downside is the screen is a bit crap, you can just about make out it refreshing if you have it on a grey screen. But its cheap and gives me Bluetooth and a RCA out for a sub which I might fit tomorrow if I have enough wire around, if not ill do it at work on Monday.

Converted £120 worth of fossils to fun hooning around the roads of Kent, Surrey and Hampshire for the RS246 club meet, Hindhead Tunnel Run and a quick visit to the Goodwood Motor Circuit.

Slightly over 5000hp combined at the meet, with the most obnoxious sounding exhaust I've ever heard on a family car in front of me during the tunnel run!

Easily the best run I've had out in my car for what seems like 2-3 months, great day!

I'm surprised i haven't seen (Or heard.. :p:cool:) This beast only living a short distance away.

I only work in Rochester so I don't spend any time in Chatham/Rochester town itself. I live out by Leeds Castle so I'm either in Maidstone or Ashford most of the time, in fact Marvin on here sees me in Maidstone almost weekly :D

Fitted my new wheels and brakes. WMS 4-pots with braided hoses, 277mm X 25 disks, with DS2500 pads & Team Dynamics pro race 1.2's. The stopping power is biblical, no fade at all no matter what. However the pads do squeal like a bitch when at low speed, hope that stops. Next up BC coilovers.

Filled it up with petrol for the first time.

It won't go in with the nozzle fully inserted, and while it goes in with it half inserted, it firehoses out of the filler neck before the back-pressure cuts the pump off. :p

Need one of these! http://www.mx5parts.co.uk/fuel-filler-return-valve-modified-version-mk1-25-p-2643.html

Also went for a drive, again... It sounds really nice at about 3500RPM full throttle.

Clutch release bearing rattles rather badly after a drive now so clutch kit is on the to-do list. It only whirred slightly when I bought it. :p

Pattern emerging with clutches here...

Needs turbo.

Clutch works fine just has a rattly release bearing. Replacing it would only be to shut it up rather than anything else. Might not bother yet. :)

Turbo will probably happen if I keep it longer than 8 months... ;)

However I've only managed that with one car, and it was the Polo.

You don't have much luck with cars do you haha. ;) Everyone needs a turbo in their life.

I wouldnt say a rattly release bearing on an 18 year old car is me not having much luck, I'm honestly not fussed. :p

Really like this one. Its fighting for position as my favourite.

Hey Flack88 - for what it's worth, I've had no issues with squealing on my DS2500. Have you bedded them in accordingly?

Just reminded me I need to get on with getting my TD 1.2s resprayed, picked them up new for a very good price but they're matt black and are rather boring and don't scrub up well.

I have now copper greased the hell out of the pads where they meet with the caliper pistons and the squealing has cleared up. I then did the break in procedure and it cleared up even more. It's now down to lightly squealing at 10mph or less. For a fast road pad I'm not surprised tbh due to the metal content within the pad.

I need to take it for a run late at night and hammer the brakes and let them cool down. I have been doing left foot braking and they are getting far better, the breaking in dust off them is insane tho which is a good thing.

Within 6 months I can hopefully start building a forged 1.5L engine, hoping for 320bhp (engine would be good for 400BHP+). Which should be fun for a 850KG FWD car with a LSD.

Had an HID Xenon go on me on the wife's VW Tiguan. Ended up having to pull the headlight to get the bulb out. Which really isn't necessary, if you know what you're doing. But given i didn't and didn't wanna go about fiddling around with a very expensive bulb, doing everything in reverse with a mirror and needle nose pliers, as i didn't have enough room to get my hand in there properly, i just ended up pulling the headlight. Once you're familiar with the retaining clip, you can do it, just by feel. Just didn't want to take the chance.
