What have you done to your car today?

Bought some new coils and plugs for my TT after inspecting it after it being very lumpy and losing power. Gonna fit tomorrow as I lost the light for today!

I've got one you're welcome to borrow :) You may need to buy new pads and polishing compound however as I'm a bit light on those. Text me before the next meet to remind me.

Very generous, thankyou! :)

I'll message you to remind you, as long as I remember. :p

Went to the Autodrome with NickX. I have learnt that standard pads are a no go for track use. I drove around leisurely all morning and early afternoon to get a feel for everything. When one of the instructors jumped aboard for my tuition session, he got me really working on the brakes, much harder than I was before. Fade after a few laps!

Luckily by the end of that it was about time to call it a day. Was great fun though, nice to meet other E46 M3 owners there and go out in-line with them on the circuit

A new C63 saloon was overtaking on the corners as if they were nothing, a GT-R was defying physics as you would expect. I guess that is business as usual.

Quick clip of one tuition lap:

And a couple of clips from the feeler laps:

And a spinner!

Plugged in my new AUKEY QuickCharger which I received totally free from mrk....cheers m8 :)

That arrived quick! No problem :)

Attempted to do the rear disks on the leon today. No luck as the m14 spline nuts are rock solid. Can't get a breaker bar on them as mine is far to long for the area of where the nuts are located. Ratchet doesn't work either. So will visit my mates mechanics.

Did attempt to work out this handbrake issue. My piston winds back fine so I'm thinking the caliper hasn't seized? Any advice appreciated. Same brake set up as mk5 gti.

Good effort on that bonnet Acme, but definitely invest in a decent polisher.

My old red Rover was quite good for an old car but after attacking it with my Porter Cable and some Megs polish, the colour depth was just unbelievable. A really gorgeous red. The full procedure (wash, clay, wash, de-tar, polish, wax) took almost a full weekend but I only had to do it once in the 6 years or so I owned the car.

The caliper will need replaced a known issue with the mechanism seizing up, you can get a little more life out it by freeing it off and winding the piston in out a few times but it will go again and could take your new disc and pads with it. I would change both on the back as the other caliper is likely to go.

The are not hugely expensive you can get brand new OE ones for just under £90 each.

I did wind the piston in and out which seemed to help. It's just the handbreak issue which I'm guessing the pulley on the back of the caliper is knackered? It seemed very stiff to me when I did try to move it.

It is the handbrake mechanism that seizes up on them, yours could be seized off rather than on. If you have already had it seize on when driving I wouldn't risk a new set of disc and pads without replacing the caliper.

Common fault. I have a pair of return springs you can have if you want, popular to prevent calipers from sticking. I'd replace calipers first though.

When I winded the piston in and out I noticed the cable on that particular side pull back. Having assembled back together the problem obviously still remains. Will try calipers first with discs and pads.

Thanks for your input.

Fixed the alternator that died during my mapping session today. I had a spare that had a knackered bearing and a slightly different casing (mounting points were rotated 90 degrees) so swapped the rectifier/regulator from that onto the dead one and it's back charging again.

Created a bit of a smokescreen whilst taking the car back to the lockup though. Whilst doing the alternator I'd disconnected the earth for the oil scavenge pump for the turbo without noticing which resulted in a full red-arrows performance until I reconnected it, it's still smoking a bit as the turbo/exhaust will be full of oil now but it'll burn off and clear next time I drive the car hard

Got the hairdryer out and got rid of the nasty badges that were everywhere. Just need to find some wider mud flaps as the wider tyres flick mud and dirt up the body :D

Ford? Thought you were A Hilux guy through and through?

Test drive the new Hilux and it only comes in 150hp 2.4 which isn't enough for a 2t 4wd despite every hilux owner saying it's enough. VW have learnt from their 2ltr amarok and introduced a 3ltr v6 but it's not available yet. This has been on order since March

Does that say 'Deranged' on the nose? :(

It does yes. The wheels and grill are from Derranged Essex https://www.derangedvehicles.com They do a rear decal to replace the Ranger to Deranged but I'm not sure yet.

That is a proper vehicle.
