What have you done to your car today?

No, but I did get a factory 325i Touring manual. :)

Made a fair few posts about it in the last few pages or so. I'll put a thread up when I decide I can be bothered... :o :p

Bit of a compromise. I have seen one of them with the 3L engine in going sideways round a roundabout late at night, looked ace haha. My face was :D

BBS genuine wheels are nice. Is the chassis all good (no rust)?

I prefer it because it is all original. The M50 swapped one felt quicker, but not masses quicker. The M20 still pulls pretty hard. Not to mention it sounds awesome. :)

Chassis is decent. It has a few bits here and there which could do with tending to soon, but its not a basket case. Just needs a bit of TLC. The sills are starting to go a bit scabby, the usual bit by the rear towing eye, the footwell corners haven't rotted through but are starting to go a bit flakey, and theres a small scab in one of the inner rear arches and on one of the inner front wings. It will all be either cut and welded, or ground back to good metal.

It was cheap, so I have plenty of budget for resto stuff. :)

It has less rust than the MX5, which is 8 years its junior :o

Front wings are no problem but rust on sills and rear quarters are a fair bit of £. If you restore it tho it will be worth a fair bit in the future. Rust starts from the inside so imo there is no grinding back to good metal, the whole section needs to be replaced and waxoil it.

Look after the MX5 it's going to be a classic in years to come if well looked after. Are you going to turbo or supercharge it?

Thought I should take more advantage of the Lego nature of VAG cars so put in a Skoda equivalent of the rns510 yesterday. It now have nav and (what I was really after) DAB.

DAB? People still listen to the radio? What's so appealing about hearing some braindead chump ramble on about meaningless crap for 10 minutes between each 3 minute song that you may or may not actually like?

On a different note, can you put VW kit in a Skoda and vice versa or can you pretty much get everything available in a VW in 'OEM' Skoda equipment?

Keep in mind I'm in Scotland so otherwise can only get a lot of stations on mw which is terrible. Also means music can be stored on the units drive rather than an SD and it works better with newer phones in way of Bluetooth streaming (track id etc)

They're all interchangable, albeit a vw nav unit will have the wrong coloured backlighting etc. Almost everything is available in its own branded version

Did you realise there is more than one station?

Yup. Listen to rock stations only. Must admit the chat can get annoying at which point I switch to another station.

Today, I stripped the front seat down so I could lubricate the bolsters. What? You may ask....well, every time I get in the car and the active bolsters fit around me, it honestly sounds like I've farted....

Also did some coding, rear DRLs, instant fold door mirrors, VIM and USB video codecs. Didn't have time to look at why my armrest USB no longer allows me to import music. Meh

I have considered black on the inside, but bit hard to do with them rivetted onto the back box!

LMAO. More friction.

Seriously tho, you will never stop that even with a stainless steel exhaust.

Who cares anyway, it's not like anyone is ever going to be looking at your tip.

Just the tip?

Went to a couple tyre shops today.. My nailed PS4 tyre is irreparable.. £90 tyre lasted 10 days! :p :(

Had a £30 part worn stuck on for now to get me around til Wednesday as nobody keeps PS4s on the shelf and has to order them in.

Got some replacement front indicator units from a 9-3 this week. Cleaned them up and gave them a quick polish and fitted them this morning. Massive improvement in the front end now, much clearer and the rubber seals on the new units are far better than the foam on the old ones.

Cleaned the leather properly and conditioned it, not like it needed it at 8 months old but with my son in the back making a mess, it's a good excuse :p

For the BMW wiper situation I wouldn't bother with all that faffing about drilling. Just get a angle grinder with a 6cm disc on the nut and wack it with a cold chisel till it cracks. Would most likely be quicker than it took you to write that post!

My plan worked, wiper bolt is off.
:D it will all look factory when done and just needs a few plastics removed to get to the hole and it can be redone any time.
