It consists of tail lights, boot handle, door handles & weather strips.

Since I got a company car I haven't needed it, so for the last 5 years or so it's sat about on the drive, sometimes covered, sometimes not.

Over the last few weeks I:
Chopped out the leaking sunroof and replaced it with an aluminium plate.
Replaced the leaking rear opening windows with fixed ones.
Ordered a new cam belt and water pump as this one is dribbling a little bit.
Put a battery on it - it started on the first turn having not been run in about 3 years.

It has 4 new tyres, it rolls, stops, starts, drives etc as it should.
It has a couple of perforated areas on the front panel but I think they are outside the prescribed areas for the MOT.
I've a feeling it will need a patch on the rear crossmember - this is probably the only real "issue" it has, I might just put it in for a test and see how it fares.
The paint on the rear 3/4, roof and tailgate is horrendous but doesn't affect how it works obviously.

Now I work abroad I need it even less, I just fancy having it usable again.

Quick question to those that know about personalised plates.

My gf is getting a new car, she dropped the deposit etc and car was with a named plate on, nothing we cars about and it's worth nothing to us. The trader calls up and says I'll have to remove it and put old plate on, from what i understand from his mumbling he said he has the v5 with old plate and the actual plates.. so he said he's going to put them on and that'll be it.

Now as far as I'm aware he needs to deregister the current named plate and assign old plate to the car through dvla ? Otherwise the database will not be up do date and my gf won't have the car ready for collection by Saturday with new plate, new v5(with named plate off it and gov issue plate on) ?

It's all a bit confusing but the old boy at the trader thinks he can just take it off and put new on.

Yeah no it's the same as a private sale, whatever reg number is on the V5 when it's sent away with new keeper details is the plate it keeps. You're correct in that it needs re registering, 99.9% will get the same plate as before back but not always.

right, thought so! I bet he's trying to pull a fast one and sell the plate as it might be worth a couple of hundred kid.

basically, the car wont be ready by saturday if he messed with the reg. I doubt he can make changes to car like that AFTER the sale has been agreed and deposit is left. Since he's on contact with my GF as she is buying the car I told her to tell him straight up to leave the plate or the sale is off as it will be way past saturday before we can collect the car on the correct plate with new V5 issued.

dealers are such a PITA.

Got it MOT'd. Took about 15 minutes but on putting it on the ramp spotted a small oil leak so booked in to Audi next Monday for that....and for a listen to a new whine from the transmission...
