What have you done to your car today?

Is it just me, but I can't buy the same car twice, I always feel like my next car must be different and better ?

I am like that too, but to me this is more of an extension to my MX5 ownership than a deliberate change of path. The opportunity arose, it is better than mine, has had all the work done which I would have wanted done to mine anyway, and I have grown to like the MK1 a lot more. I'd been wishing I had bought a MK1 in the first place for a while.

It has worked out well, I just hope it is what I think it is when I go and see it. :)

I have a car bucket list of sorts as well... It has all sorts on it... The one which is burning at the moment is something Swedish like a Saab 9-5 Aero HOT or a V70R/S60R or similar. I need to try one of those at some point. I also want an Audi S4 4.2 at some point, just need to find one which has had the timing chain and guides done already with documented proof. They do come up occasionally. Not because I think it is better than a BMW 335i or something, just because I *want* one. Y'know?

I am enjoying myself. :D

Sorted my sons insurance out while he was at work. He's just passed his test. Fiesta 1.4, £1300 with a black box at 19!

I just feel a car that's too similar won't have the same wow factor, I spent ages looking for my last car

I'm just looking for the feeling that this MX5 couldn't quite give me. I love my MX5 to drive but I don't look back at it and I can't park it next to a MK1 without wishing I had one. :)

A Mk1 on a decent set of coils, wheels and tyres with a torsen LSD is going to feel a lot different to a stock MK2 or MK1.

My MK1 on Miester R's and 15x8 wheels with a full fast road setup was sublime to drive on the road vs when it was stock. It always had the diff, but it was so progressive when it came to grip in all weather and it only became unstuck when I told it. Stock power you could just push yourself around corners flat out most of the time. Stock suspension and 14" wheels was lairy in anything but dry conditions.

It was still semi-stanced looking but the setup was spot on. Drove it daily for 3 years and mostly B roads. Miss the GayMobile so much :(

Nice one @Dup, those wheels are on my "possible" list. :)

@Acme That actually looks spot on for the money. I'd be wary of a "rust free" UK MK1 however. Make sure you give it a good poke and inspection. Have a look at CBS autos Facebook page for where they really go. Some people bodge by undersealing over the horror too.

I can't reccomend the Rota Zero Plus sadly. The lauquer on mine went very easily on the polished part.

Minimal rust. Less than mine. And its had a wire brushing and undersealing session with a well known MX5 garage so I think (hope) that means they haven't just covered up sins.

Changed the fuel filter on my 2000 Alfa Romeo 156. Old one was buggered; inconsistent pressure, and a dodgy float. The job is not technically difficult, but it's awkward and time consuming. Took the opportunity to vacuum out all the junk under the rear seat. :p

Those lights are going to end up like the chav version of 00's lexus lights. The only reason we think they look cool is because it is a new thing. Very similar to the tail lights on early b8 Audi's. Everyone thought they were amazing but look utter gash now.
