what headphones do you own thread - i own dt150's :)

what would the denons be like compared to the creative hs-800s? Driven by a dgx. Also tesco have the Goldring NS1000 in for 50 quid which would be better?

^If you're referring to the Denon AH-D1100's, I'd say look elsewhere.
Haven't tried the NS1000's or the hs-800's.

You can get Sony MDR-V6's for £55 on Amazon. Stunning headphones for the money and crap all over the AH-D1100's in terms of sound, comfort and build quality.
Not sure why I didn't get another pair tbh...

I got sennheiser hd 439 headphones for my titanium hd sound card. It may not be very high quality as some people's headphones here but more than enough for me.

what did you feel was wrong with the denons? they will only really be used off the pc for gaming and a bit of background music

Build quality is a little lacking. I can't believe these ever sold for £100. I've owned £20-30 headphones with better build.
Sound quality isn't horrific, but compared to the V6's, there's a slight lack of clarity and crispness. They're a little 'foggy' in comparison. Bass is decent though.
I only got them yesterday, but they've been burning in over night fwiw.

The Denon's have more room around and away from the ear, but the pad is very firm. If you have big ears, they're probably more comfortable over extended periods though the Sony's have much softer pads which can be swapped for Beyerdynamic DT250 velour pads if you want.

They'll do the job for a bit of gaming and casual music, though I'd still look at other models.
Even my mum prefers the Sony's and she's hardly what I'd call a discerning critic :)

Picked up a pair of Creative Aurvana Lives. Sound quality is very good and they're very light. Ideal for long stints at the PC.

They're a nice just over the ear fit. They're bigger than Sennheiser PC 15x/16x and quite a bit smaller and lighter than my previous Sony XB500's.

The cabling being a little thin and rubbery is my only complaint.

if your having volume issues get one of these
FiiO E5 Portable Clip-On Headphone Amplifier/Amp w/ USB Rechargeable Battery

Had mine for few years, no problems, allows to increase volume without having to boost all settings on your chosen music player device, great considering that most manufacturers are having to limit volume output levels due to H&S regulations

I recently upgraded from Senn 555 to Beyerdynamic DT770 with an Epiphany acoustics O2 headphone amp. It's so much better now, the isolation alone. I only use it for gaming though, it's miles behind my hifi setup for music.

I take it that reply was intended towards me?

If so then yeah the 201s are somewhat quiet :p I'll definitely be investing in a headphone amp anyway

Got a pair of these as a Christmas present. Agreed on the sound quality, especially for their price. I use them for gaming and listening to music and they do a good job. I find they hurt my ears after awhile though. More to do with them being on ear rather than anything to do with the build quality or the ear cup material. Was struggling to find a decent set of over ears with my budget at the time though.

Seems there's not much choice when it comes to over ear and (preferably) noise cancelling headsets with a budget like the CALs (£50-£60). Any suggestions people? Don't mind paying more than what I paid for these for a decent set that won't hurt my ears.

Are there any headphones as comfortable as the sennheiser HD5x5 range, completely over ear, cushioned (not leather cushion!!) that cost less than £75 that anyone can recommend? Can't afford anything expensive, but my HD555s have broken again :( Super-glu fixed them last time but they really need replacing.
