what headphones do you own thread - i own dt150's :)

How much of a difference would I notice with the likes of the Modi/Magni combo vs the FiiO E10K for use with the DT990 250ohm? My budget is circa £150.

Am I right in saying you need BOTH the Schiit Audio Modi 2 and Magni 2 as a set? I don't know what difference that makes (if any) over a DAC/AMP combined unit?

You can use the magni/modi as a pair or use the modi with a different amp or the magni with a different dac. Most people just use them as a pair because it looks nice and is convinient.

Not much love of the in-ears here seems, but i've got a pair of UE900's arriving Monday (was meant to be today ) to replace my XBA-H3's as the main pair. The amount of use the Sony's have had is leaving them looking a little worse for it - still working like new though - and i've always fancied a pair of 900's. Inline remote for iOS will be nice too. :)

I also have some UE900 with Comply tips.

I really like them for travel, right out of my iPhone they sound great and the noise isolation is perfect, makes long plane journeys fly by ;) :D

That's interesting and good to know... I was just about to start looking for some good in-ears for a trip to Oz later this year. Are these well regarded?

They're highly thought of but seem to be hard to get hold of as they're either out of stock or have vanished - cheaper ones are most probably grey market stuff.

Shall try to do a comparison, but that'll be later next week. :)

They arrived yesterday - since DPD decided they could deliver them - and I am liking them a lot so far. Far better fit than the Sony's and are far more discrete (yes, I know they're electric blue, but they don't stick horizontally out of my ear by an inch :p). Sound isolation is in another league and I haven't even tried foam tips yet. Still need to do some more burning in, but i'm liking the sound a lot. Punchy bass, but very controlled. Very nice sound.

note: Running them unequalised from my PC sounds the same as using the 'Rock' equaliser on iOS. I find it gives headphones a bit more punch than using 'Flat' and the mids/highs are already nicer. :)

I'm with you on this JP. What a brilliant set of in-ears. Noise isolation is truly epic and the fit is excellent. So, so comfortable. :)

Yeah, one of the things I with the fit is the low profile design so I can rest my head on the side without feeling like I am having my ear canals examined.
I haven't seen better without having some custom moulded ones made.

It does the job :D

I love being able to control everything from the smartphone app too. Means no need to reach for the remote!

Very nice mrk! I wish I could control my gear with my phone.

Also I'm currently in the process of leaning out my current collection so obviously the logical thing to do is to buy more gear. I got rid of one Sony, only to pick up another on a whim...

Picked them up second hand for about half the current retail price. When I had initially heard these a while back, I thought they were OK but not really anything special at it's price point. I don't think my opinions have changed much after listening to these for a couple days. They aren't bad by any means, just not competitive at it's price point (though this is mostly comparing against open designs).

So why did I get them? Well I've seen a couple mods done to them and they seem to respond pretty well to just some basic dampening of the housing (which has no damping whatsoever, I checked). I'll probably be messing around with these for a while...

I remember my first pair of Sony headphones. They really were excellent and I got them from Argos of all places lol. MDR something or other, they were open back and were were silver cased and the entire ear cup was mesh vented.

They soundedd sweet and nicely balanced for the amps I had at the time (Rotel and then a Kenwood) and then one day ceased to output any sound :(

That was the time when loads of Sony home AV were seemingly dying just outside of warrantya nd it put me off SOny home AV stuff ever since
