what headphones do you own thread - i own dt150's :)

Bought an AKG K451 because I've used IEMs exclusively for so long I wanted to give something else a try.

Just had the RHA 750i arrive in the post for review, too. First pair of over-ear cable jobbies I've ever used.

Still rocking my Audio Technica MTH-50s. Going strong and had no issues even with the leather peeling off the cups which other headphones would have normally done in this time frame.

Could you do a like for like review of the 750i and the T10i (and post on here)?

Updating My List - still in rough order of preference:

Sennheiser HD600
Audio-Technica A900 (Gone)
Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 250 ohm (gone - these went to Jon Gomm and he used them for recording his Don't Panic album!)
Audio-Technica SonicFuel ATH-OX7AMP
Goldring NS1000 (still rate them very highly but the pleather's seriously deteriorating now after about 8 years use - giving me black dandruff)
Audio-Technica Quietpoint ANC7B
QPad QH-90 (a headset that I like!!!)
Goldring DR150
Sennheiser IE6
Creative Aurvana Live (Gone)
M-Audio Q40
JVC HA-RX700 (Gone)
Jays sJays
iGrado (my gym headphones)
Goldring GX200 (Gone)

It may help explain my order of preference if I say I'm a bit of a soundstage whore. If something presents recording soundstage well (rather than the artificial 'headstage' you get sometimes), I'm a sucker. I often pair them with Dolby Headphone and how well they do with it affects my judgement.

Also have some Audio-Technica QuetPoint ANC33IS IEMs I've never got around to trying.

Too many headphones at the moment. May need to have a bit of a clearout.

HD650s for pretty much everything at the moment - absolutely love them.
On the IEM front I have a pair of Soundmagic E10s, which are fantastic for their price.

I've also got a set of old Goldring NS1000s knocking about (perfect condition), but they don't tend to see the light of day much any more.

My 65th Annies are getting the most head time. It's one of them headphones that makes you wonder why other headphones need to bd sp expensive. Took me a while to track them down! Amazon sale them but it's the newer pair with the K712 pads. The smaller pads are rare and the people that have them rarely get rid of them.

Glad to have them back, I don't even miss my LCD2...as much anyway :p

Focal Spirit Classic have been with me everywhere. Amazing set, best closed I've heard. If these were open they'd be the HD650 with a deeper bass!

After having experienced far better comfort from my other headphones, I finally decided to try and improve the LCD-2 as they are still my favourite pair to listen to. The main area I wanted to improve on was the headband comfort, and clamp reduction (not a big issue for me) would be an added bonus.

Drawing inspiration from the HE-560 I purchased a set of extended yokes from Audeze, and a 'leather suspension strap' off a certain website. Total cost was around £70.

The extended yokes I purchased because I was already maxed out on the stock yokes and adding a suspension strap would reduce the headroom even further. If you don't have a ridiculously large head like myself you could probably skip the extended yokes.

The leather strap is pretty basic, if you've tried the MrSpeakers range it's largely the same thing. You attach it by looping the yokes through the elastic straps at either end of the strap.

Well I can say the comfort is definitely better. Having a suspension strap is so much more comfortable than the stock bumpy headband (and the bumps on mine seem to have gotten harder with use...). The weight is distributed much more evenly rather than at the very top of your noggin. Clamping force also seems to have been reduced somewhat compared to before, likely due to having more room to extend on the yokes.

All in all, it's a pretty nice improvement and something I would very much recommend to any current Audeze owners.

Do like that wood and black look - don't think those are really the headphone for me though and sadly can't really afford the HE90s.

got some DT770 250 ohms with modmic, great sound and very comfortable best £100 ive spent on cans with SMSL SD793 II PCM1793 HiFi Audio Mini DAC Sound Decoder.

I know this isn't really a mod thread but Ninja Pirate posted his so here is mine :D

Since getting my LCD-3s and Balanced Schiit gear my Q701s haven't had a look in so I was giving them a listen on my Lyr.
The Lyr needs new tubes but that was the first time in 3 months I had turned it on so I decided to crack open the Q701s and recable them to make them balanced for the same cost.

I purchased 3m Van Damme Tour Grade Classic XKE minature Starquad Cable and some Rean/Neutrik 4-Pin XLR connectors.

As you can see with the stock setup L and R +Ve are the Yellow and Red wires then L and R -Ve are the White joined together for a 3 pin unbalanced setup.

I heated up the stock 3-Pin connector with my soldering iron to melt the glue on the threads and just pushed it out.

Soldering up the new 4-Pin

Now the hardest part was getting the wires soldered back in, my soldering iron is massive and that far left blue wire (L -Ve) was a #$%^.
Not the neatest of work but all the points are strong, I gave them a good tug ;)
Most of the mess is from the flux to help the solder flow.
The new Chassis Mini 4-Pin XLR was a nice tight fit so I didn't use any glue, just pressed it in.

I then had to build the cable, pretty simple just a bit fiddly with the mini XLR -Ve pins 2 and 4 being stacked, I put a little electrical tape around the middle pin to avoid any shorting and used a multimeter to check everything for continuity before plugging in.

If I ever want to use them on a SE output I can either make another cable and just join the -Ve wires at the terminal or build a 4-Pin XLR to SE TRS adapter.

Happy to have something light to wear when I don't feel like having the LCD-3 Opera House on my head ;) which should also come in handy during the warmer months when the weight and leather gets a bit much.

I just listened to Royal Bloods album while typing this and they sound great!
