what headphones do you own thread - i own dt150's :)

Well my collection is currently, my T90's which replaced my 650's , My Shure SRH 1540's, the DT770's, and a pair of V-Moda Crossfade LP's, I wanted the 770's for my Day To Day, while at work, keeping my T90's and Shure's for Home listening, and the V-modas for out and abouts

Had to send my Nighthawks to Holland because my headband was out of spec. They didn't have a replacement headband in Holland so instead of making me wait until the US they are sending me a brand new pair, that's customer service! all that was arranged in under an hour.

Been rocking the ol' Creative Fatal1ty's for a few years now. The mic's broken and they're uncomfortable for longer stints, but to be honest, for the £30 or so they cost, I think they're pretty bloody good.

Decided to treat myself to some new ones so trotted off to John Lewis/Curry's today to try a few pairs out. I think I tried B&W, Beats, Sennheiser's, Sony's and Bose. Anyway, the Bose (Soundtrue II) won pretty comfortably for me as having the right mix of comfort and all round sonic ability. Luckily they didn't have the exact ones I wanted in stock as I saved £35.00 buying them online (which is great because at £150 I thought they were a bit steep considering a fairly plasticky build quality)

I own some AKG Q701 in beautiful lime green, recently though the headband tension clip , a small bracket that holds the 2 headband wire frames in place snapped and im unable to find half of it. Searching has not turned up a replacement part so i may be looking to buy a new set of phones, not looking forward to the cost of a upgrade!

90% of my use is gaming, sound stage is king for me hence the Q's.

K712/K7XX is excellent for gaming, DT990 as well (maybe not as much for music)

A lot of the Audio Technica AD range are rated for gaming but they dont have a lot of low end.

maybe a Philips Fidelio X2 if you want something boomy and fun

I play a lot of counter strike so i value a good, wide and precise sound stage with clear distinction between it all so i think the dt's and the x2 are out, i did own a pair of x1's and while i loved them they did not fill a role i had for them so sold them on.

Maybe look into the k712's i do like the colour scheme of the pro's.

New Grado SR225e. Very much enjoying them but will have to see how long it is before the missus clicks into selective hearing mode and starts moaning that she can hear my music all round the house.

but those earpads - I couldn't see me wearing them for five or six hours straight, which I do with the AKGs and HD650s.

You kind of forget them when you put them on. They have exceeded my expectations and I am rarely surprised. They cost £200 new and come in a pizza box and some foam. Little money has been spent on the look or the materials but the drivers, wow.

The last on-ear headphones I owned was a pair of Sennheiser HD 420SLs but that was back before glasses became a necessity. I'd be a bit wary of on-ears now as they tend to cause pressure soreness where they sandwich the ears against the glasses frame.

Sometimes you don't realise how good the Vali 1 is..until going back to it from the Vali 2. Vali 2 is so resolving, so natural, and is good at everything. Vali 1 is just luscious, gorgeous sounding, more distorted- but in a good way that gives musicality to the sound. I still think the Vali 2 is a technical upgrade, don't misread me but the Vali is so special for that emotion.

Sitting here with the Nighthawks > Chord Mojo > Vali and it's such a good chain for that camp-fire type sound. I still think the Vali is the closets sound to the Bottle Head Crack.

Wow, that is some praise indeed for the humble Vali - I shall be hanging on to mine until I win the lottery (which may be a while as I don't do it) :)
