what headphones do you own thread - i own dt150's :)

I have Stax lambda with srdx energiser. Same ones for 15 years. Very nice sound. Electrostatics for your ears.

I do think the Vali 2 is a good upgrade because it has better sound quality, it just isn't as musical. I've got the Vali 2 going to a good home tomorrow because I need to save money and the Vali 1 only cost me £75 so it was a bargain.

The Vali & Vali 2 are easily Schiit's best amps. The Lyr 2 + Valhalla 2 are beast, but there's something about the typical Schiit sound that is plain, almost sterile without being cold if that makes sense, not exciting in character.

The Magni 2 Uber was surprising, god that thing is a beast, makes the Asgard 2 redundant and fixes most of the problems I had with the Magni 1. I think I like the Vali the most because it's not the typical Schiit sound, lush, but still resolving enough to compete.

I think essentially I would be content with a Modi feeding a Vali and Magni 2U via their switch box. Much as I love the Vali, it is totally useless for IEMs and the M2U, with it's gain switch would do the job very nicely.

And i can't wait to listen to it :D I have gone through so many reviews and peoples thoughts on this im chomping at the bit.

If you wouldn't mind actually, can you post up the details of the tubes, both stock and the extra, i fancy buying one or two more to roll and would like to go through and get some with different sound profiles.

Hoping it will be a epic pairing for my Q701's, will be using the dac in my beresford tc7520 ubtill i put it on the MM and get a Modi 2 uber.

Also the akg K812 have caught my eye but at £800  i may have to hold off for a while. Thing is though, generally when something takes my fancy like that i usually end up getting it. How do i explain that at home :(

Say it was an anti-theft, someone broke in and left them there while everyone was asleep - Santa gets away with this crap on a yearly basis.

Sometimes you don't realise how good the Vali 1 is..until going back to it from the Vali 2. Vali 2 is so resolving, so natural, and is good at everything. Vali 1 is just luscious, gorgeous sounding, more distorted- but in a good way that gives musicality to the sound. I still think the Vali 2 is a technical upgrade, don't misread me but the Vali is so special for that emotion.

Sitting here with the Nighthawks > Chord Mojo > Vali and it's such a good chain for that camp-fire type sound. I still think the Vali is the closets sound to the Bottle Head Crack.

I found the vali 1 great on my hd 650's for that reason but it was crap with the he 500 and fidelio x1 it just sounded muffled and distorted through them and just not in any of the good ways like the hd 650 presented it.

I don't get that with mine at all, it sounds beautifully smooth with the HD650s but never muffled and just takes the edge off my AKG K702s, leaving them sounding detailed but not harsh.

It might of just been my unit then. It sounded great with my hd 650, warm and smooth but it lost detail noticeably on the others without the benefits i felt it had with the hd 650. I gave it to a friend and he said a similar thing when he gave it back to me.

I can see that being the case with the X1 because it's not very resolving, mid bassy. The HE-500 can be a bit funny with some amps, does better with the Magni than the Vali although I found it ok, the 400i paired better but the Vali.

The Vali pairs great with the Nighthawks which are on the warmer side of neutral (after the rubber surround has broken in) I think the Vali was made for the 650, lovely pairing.

I think I'm finally content with my setup. I've ended up with a pair of Fidelio X2's plugged into a Magni 2 and Modi 2 Uber as my main system.

For IEM's, I switch between VS3DS, SoundMagic PL10's and JLab Epic Bluetooth's. I might end up buying some Consonance Pro's from LMUE to replace the VS3DS & PL10's.

I also have a pair of Samson SR850's lying around as I thought I'd sent them back to Amazon but somehow managed to not include them in the box when I returned the box. I've also got a pair of QY8 bluetooth IEM's which are just boxed away somewhere.

These Grado's are so next level compared to the AKG's. Even gaming with them is a marked improvement. I even like the design!

To me that shows how overrated the akg k550 must be then as grado are garbage compared to other cans i've tried.
Not slating your cans just saying as i've owned grado's and don't rate them what so ever next to fidelio x1's sennheiser momentums hd600's and dare I even say it goldring ns1000.

Everyones ear canals are different though right.

Grados certainly are not for everyone, they are super aggressive, coloured headphones. I certainly see the appeal, they are fun, quick sounding. People looking for accuracy and balance will probably hate most of the Grado line.

I think they do their job to an extent and that's to excite with gobs of treble. They are too aggressive and unnatural for me to enjoy with hardly any bass but everyone has their preferences. I've not heard any of the flagship ones, looking at graphs they seem to share a similar curve.

Anyone know of a decent place (other than Headfi) where I could consider trading my Lyr in? I want to downsize (for deskspace) so was looking at trading the Lyr for a Magni & Modi/Vali. Doesn't seem to be much call for them on t'bay.

They are certainly fun, but I don't find them bass light though.

Paid a good price and I may sell them on for the same soon. I'm just building up to some HD650's or some K712's and having some fun on the way there. :D

AKG K712 for home use and gaming using an Xonar STX, and the Audio Technica MSR7 for office use love them both for different reasons, i feel the MSR7 are some of the most underrated headphones around.

Currently own DT 770 Pro 250's and a pair of AKG K7XX's but I dunno... something just feels missing. Use both for gaming and music and I can't really tell much difference in sound quality and struggling to see the appeal as both do get good reviews. Both get quite uncomfortable after awhile too. Both powered by a Vali but with onboard DAC if that matters.

Not sure whether to sell both and just get a good all rounder like the K712 or HD650.
