What is it that makes people hate Apple so much?

Lots of interesting points being raised here. Ill tell you where I am at, around about 2005 my best friend got himself a 17" Powermac G4. He loved it in every possible way imaginable, yet I was still totally Anti-Apple. We used to use them at school in the late 90s and they were utter _____. Anyway this guy finally convinced me Apple was the way forward for mobile computing and I purchased a Macbook in 2006. Since then I have had three iPhones, an iPod, a Mac Mini, an iPad and the wife got an iPhone too. So cost clearly was not an issue!

Also I don't love Apple neither do I love PCs/Microsoft. Both Micro and Apple have their fair share of malpractices that they indulge in. I would suggest to all the Apple fanboys (of which their must be many in this forum) that Windows 7 is probably just as usable as OSX these days and Apple hardware is months if not more behind PC hardware (except the screens - my 2006 screen still looks amazing!). And (serious) games still suck on any Apple.

So its horses for courses. I use PCs as desktops, they offer me upgrade opportunities, I can play games (as they are meant to be played) and I use Apple products on the go. Do I hate Apple? I certainly am left with a bitter taste in my mouth with the fans who are willing to die in order to defend their Apple products. As a company they really do exude an arrogance (which may or may not be well placed), I suppose an English man would call it a lack of class (might just be their American origins). You only have to look at the iPhone 4 antenna issue to understand what I am talking about here.

They look good, are functional and the customer service is amazing (unless your in a US Apple store, but that's another story!). But they certainly are not the last word in computing.

P.S. They look better but you pay for the looks (as the hardware certainly is not soaking up that £££$$$) so its hardly something to get excited about.

Haven't read the previous 9 pages because I couldn't be bothered!

But I think it's partly down to their market domination, people do tend to go with the crowd and not look at other alternatives (me included before I became wise and bought a SGS2, far superior ;-), but let's not get into that). :p

Something that annoyed me the other day as well, reading on a well known gadget website, Apple yet again filing a law suit against HTC for stealing some idea, couldn't remember what it was, but I know for a fact it's not the first time I've seen Apple trying to destroy competitors!

The SGS2 is a year newer, in the phone market you would expect the hardware to be superior (and it isn't even that much better). It's a silly argument. Unless you're talking about the software, in which case, lol!

If you look at the hardware side of things when the 4 was first released, there were far superior phones, that's not me saying that, it's fact.

Apple has had years more development in the software side of things, Android is incredibly mature now, and almost there.

Like I said though, I didn't want it to be an Apple vs competitor arguement... as I'd just win.

:p

And to make things a bit more fair, I think IOS5 is looking very good and will iron out the things I hated about my old iPhone, notification system mostly..

The Desire and X10 had better hardware than the iPhone 4? Are you being serious?

I do own an iPhone, but I also own plenty of other phones. I very much know what I'm talking about so if you want to get into it - fine by me.

I'll get 'defensive' about any phone that people spout nonsense about, Apple or otherwise.

If you read back to my original post in this subject, I said I didn't want to get into it, you brought it up, not me.

While we are at it, what have I spouted nonsense about? As far as I'm concerned I've been incredibly level headed about both phones, having owned both.

Man you Apple users get edgy!

I've never hated apple, but I didn't like them much once upon a time. I use to think their operating systems were far less superior compared to Microsoft and that any MP3 player was just as good as an iPod.

How wrong I was, when I first decided to get an iPod Touch 4th Gen, It was like, totally awesome! If you ask me, apple seem to have got everything spot on, literally spot on, perfect. Whereas other phone OS or whatever all seem to make a compromise somewhere or other and are imperfect.

What can I say? I'm a perfectionist, and apple devices do it for me. I've never had or used a mac, but I'm sure if I did I'd love it.

You said there were 'far superior' phones (hardware wise) available at the time of the iPhone 4 release and that it was a fact. The fact is, you're wrong. :)

Do you even know what 'far superior' means?

Man you Apple users get edgy!

If someone came into the Samsung Galaxy S II thread and said something along the same lines about a different device that was wrong, I'd have the exact same reaction.

It has nothing to do with Apple.

Maybe far superior was a tad strong, but I wasn't expecting to get pounced on by someone with your.. obvious forum posting ability. ;)

I don't think I'm wrong about the hardware, but that is where our opinions are always always going to differ.

Now calm down and do some ironing or something.

Back on topic!

The amusing thing is, the attitude you've demonstrated with your posts (just look at your original post, even if partly tongue-in-cheek) is the exact kind of attitude that people accuse Apple users of, yet you're an Android fanboy and you do the exact same thing.

Also, you've attacked me instead of the points I was making. I think you know you never had a good argument to begin with and said something incorrect, which is fine - we all do it, but many people won't admit their mistakes.

You can't write something incorrect and then say "I don't want to get into it", surely it's obvious that people are going to correct you?

Well no, you brought it up. Then said you didn't want to discuss it.

LOL Google rapes babies, but I don't want to go into the reasoning for my baseless claim.
