What is the MG ZS like?

Bad news...it was sold at 5.35 today :(:(:(:(

It's given me an ideas as to what I want though :)

I'm well gutted because I really liked that car, but I'll hunt around autotrader and stuff to find another. My friend who works in Adrian Flux done me a good quote today and saved me about £700 - so insurance isn't a problem. Still gutted though :( had my hopes set on that car!

ah well! onto Pistonheads!

So this is your family business, yet they sold it from under you.

DISOWN THEM ALL!!!
This thread sparked off a hunt for ZS180's (no, I'm keeping my CTR), and you can get so much for so little. ~54 platers come in at less than 4 grand, and often have ~30K on the clock.

Very good value IMO.

Good value indeed.

Just to add, the ZT 190s which are a far nicer car, come in cheaper than the ZS180s round me.

Phate m8, considering how cheap they are for a non Cat C/D have you thought about getting one this way.

You must have your vengence, your farther deprived you of your Rover. You must restore the ballance by killing his Meastro with fire.

I have - only reason I sparked an interest is because of seeing it briefly at the yard during the week. Like I said I hadn't even considered one before this!

My problem with being bored with my car was...

Anything I wanted I either couldn't afford or couldn't insure

and anything I could insure or afford I didn't want! :(

But now I've had the 180 under my eye, I'm going to have a hunt around

I knew someone that was getting rid of their ZS beause next year the tax is going to be ridiculas for what car it is, so depending on what year you get you may find it hard to shift in the future because no ones going to pay £415 a year tax on one! Thats a 04-05 ZS 180 BTW.

Edit*, oh they're all after 2001, so all the 180s will be that price.

I must admit that does sound completely bizare. It went from being on the back of the van for delivery to the house of the owner to being sold to someone else

The mysterious world of Phate, does your Dad really own the yard or is he just an employee :p

:p My Dad and his Brother own the yard, apart from 3 drivers it's entirely family run.

I'm told when it was on the Daily a regular came in and asked if the MG was sold, Dad turned round and said no so the guy bought it :(

I have a strange family to be fair :p

Rovers (and MGs) can cost a little more on insurance due to the parts being slighter more difficult to get hold of, and the cost of repairs being elevated slightly.

What a lovely chap, sell his Meastro :p

When I was over there a few weeks back I moved it to all the cars that were for sale and wrote £10 on the window.

Nobody even asked :p

Surely it has to be worth looking at the mg zt too ?

02 plate 190+ , bigger, modern appearence, very comfy

all for <£2500 ? if you shop around.

It'd be a serious contender for my next car if the thing would fit in my garage (vital when your neighbours are loons!).

Insurance is BOUND to be higher though?! surely!

How much do you reckon it would have cost to fix it Phate?

No ideas to be honest. It would've had to have been jigged, front bumper, rear bumper, front grill at the very least. Dad said it was also caught a bit on the boot lid...

so I'm guessing £400 at least...depends on the internals and how cheaply I could have sourced the bits.

I wouldn't have thought there would be much difference between the mg zs 180+ (if i'm understanding correctly, its what you nearly ended up with before your family sold you out! :D ) and the mg zt 190+, both pretty similar.

Test drove one very recently as part of my car hunting plans (!!) and was really impressed, felt like a good mix being pretty lively while still remaining refined enough for most people to like.
