What is the MG ZS like?

Thoroughly depends on your driving style and route. I wouldn't have thought it unreasonable to get 30+ from the ZT on a run.

Don't really know enough about them to comment tbh :)

Just having a look on pistonheads, it seems about 2.5 - 3k will get me a mint 02ish plate with about 30k on the clock :) Perfect!

I'm moving out Sunday, otherwise I'd go test driving and buying this weekend!

I'll test drive one at a local MG place, and if i like it set my target to save for one :)

I found the ZT a really nice place to be, certainly a level above every other rover of the same era, interior although a little "old-fashioned" in style was 100x better than the ZR/ZS.

Seriously contemplated a ZT diesel when I was facing the prospect of 400 mile round trip a week minimum.

Why would they refuse to send him the part when the Rover parts business was/is a completely separate entity and make their money out of selling parts, not diagnosing faults. It wouldn't be a warranty repair as they would have got it taken to the nearest Rover dealer.

No idea, but they were unwilling to send the part out (possibly due to it being a small local garage in the alps?). Also possibly because they kept telling the mechanic that it couldnt possibly be that causing the fault and he was wrong.

Mk2 ZT CDTI looks like a quite nice car :)

The part leather/alcantara seats look nice. The part leather/clothe seats on the other hand look cheap and nasty.

The thing I never understood is the horridly cheap headunits they put on models without satnav/tv.

Oracle (may his pwnt by the ban hammer account RIP), who used to reside the forums has one of these TZ CDTI. Done 120k miles now and still going strong.

Car still looks like new.

I did look at the ZTs but the 190 isn't cheap to run, not hugely expensive mind, and the fact they cost the same as a 8 year old fiesta to buy offsets any long term running costs.

He's back as Butters now so I'm sure he'll pop by, if he isn't busy being a professional rally driver or test driving 535d Manuals.

Have you had ANY problems with your ZT?:)

I reckon he's had to replace the tyres and refill it :p

Funnily enough Phate is almost correct:p
I've had it about 4 years (51 plate 44k now) and the only thing I've had go on it is the odd bulb, rear discs and pads replaced (surprisingly cheap) and a strap that holds the back box up, no other repairs at all.
It's getting a lot more expensive to run now that the kind government have decided I'll have to pay over £400 duty and petrol prices are spiralling upwards.
It's not worth getting rid of yet though as it's still a great drive:)

Nope butters got banned to:D

And then some;)

Personally, i like the ZS, i think they look nice and the 2.5 v6's dont hang around. I went in a supercharged one, it was awesomely fast but the supercharger had to go because it was killing the engine. They handle fairly well, go fairly well (the v6), the interior i think is quite nice with some decent hugging seats plus they look cool too (in my opinon anyway).

Huzeeee, that didn't have a Sprintex charger on it did it? And it wasn't converted by a lovely guy from a company called RSM?

Really **** Motors :D ;)

ZS 180 Phate?

Wee pic of mine to get you in the mood :)

Its like an old Rover 400 covered in tat.

My GF has a Rover 400 :(

You just described my car too :(

The ZS is by no means a bad car - VTI owner rob the rear ARB off them (and the spoilers come to mention it)

(Not mine - a friends)

Cost aside, I'd still have the VTI-S over one any day.
