What is the point of GTA V?

Struggled to get into it myself - partly due to the developer for some reason seeming to think that every single little action should have its own unique key bind - when most of it could be merged down to a lot less keys. Gameplay for me wore thin in way less than an hour.

What? You dont have more buttons than any other modern PC game really..

I think GTAV's size was pretty decent, I actually wouldn't mind the world being even bigger. Anyway, the game was a fantastic experience, especially with some graphics tweaks I used.

If I were to point a game that had a needlessly big and empty world it'd be Just Cause 2.

And if anyone still believes SA was bigger than V, this should be a nice eye-opener:p:

It is very odd seeing the game like that!

Thing is, despite knowing that V is bigger, I think it just feels smaller because there is less difference between locations. I mean you've effectively got the seafront to the suburbs region, which was also in SA, then you've got the desert area, which was a part of LV in SA, and Mt Chilead.

But none of SF or the Strip - I guess for me, long trips felt much more eventful in SA.

Love GTA V, very surprised about the driving comments, the big rigs especially handle very accurately and the trailer behaviour / physics is first rate IMO.

I've not touched Euro Truck Simulator 2 since getting GTA V, the trucks in GTA V are much better to drive.

It's an immersive almost cinematic experience, both on and off line, can't think of a game like it for reinvigorating my PC gaming interest.

That's because vehicles had to be slower and roads had to be more twisty to make the map seem bigger. Also, the draw distance was much lower to provide an illusion that you were roaming a massive world.

In GTA V, it's actually the other way around:p The world is big enough that the road layout had to allow for more efficient travelling. It still takes quite a lot of time to circumnavigate the entire map in a fast car using the motorway. If cars were as fast in SA you'd probably be able to drive around the map quit a bit quicker:p And SA's Chiliad looks like a hill compared to the one in V:p

I actually think V feels more expansive when you stand on a hill and look around, everything's properly spaced and looks vast (despite the massive draw distance). When you look at the Vinewood sign it's quite far in the distance as opposed to SA, where it was virtually by the street.

EDIT: Just look how the entire thing's like from a distance at 2:38:D

They must be better on the PC then, because they handle terribly on the consoles. The trailer seems to add nothing to the weight or feel of driving the truck.

As for people thinking SA was bigger or more unique than GTAV, it just goes to show how nostalgia can skew your view.

I love the amount of detail and environmental interactions rockstar put into the GTA world. I spend hours just playing with the Physics....

Sleeping dogs was pretty good. I just hated driving down a long road while your car changed up to 36th gear. GTA V is a good game, map should really be a bit bigger though.

I think the fighting was the best bit, the story and gfx weren't bad either.

But back on topic I didn't realise how big V map was, I guess it felt small in comparison to SA due to having no SF or LV.

I definitely need to play V again though, preferably on PC since PS3 feels outdated now :p

The game was virtually perfect to me, just needed some anti-hacking/modding software to stop people ruining online lobbies.
