what is there to do on ps3?

dont forget, the xbox 360 launch titles weren't too hot either, PGR3 and Perfect Dark seemed to be the best, and now there are games so much better than that. give it a bit of time.

PGR3, Kameo, Condemned, Call of Duty 2. 4 highly thought of games and a bunch of others that were fun.

Quite similar then as the PS3 has F1, Motorstorm & RFOM which seem to be quite highly thought of and a bunch of otehrs which are fun if you havent played them already on the 360.

I cant be arsed to read through the replies but to the original post, do you actually research what your buying? With most things, cars, phones, PC equipment... anything, I search for reviews on the relevant item.
Did you not do the same with the PS3?!

I have those 3. In fairness, Resistance is appalling in Single Player but brilliant in Multiplayer. Motorstorm is fun, but without depth. F1 is also good, but PGR3 was miles ahead that both of these when it came to playing a racing game.

Is one of my favourite single player FPS's. Really enjoyed it. Is a Marmite game though...

Did you ever finish the SP campaign nokkon?

Josh

I wouldn't say Resistance is 'marmite' tbh.

I played it through to the end in single player, which I found rather average.

Multiplayer is way above average, though, reminding me of the original UT.

All in all, this makes it 'quite good' imo, though only if you play it online.

I traded it in for God of War II a few weeks ago..

I'm sure others could say the same about PGR3, Kameo, Condemned, Call of Duty 2. I guess some peoples rubbish is other peoples gold. But I have heard all three of those games I mentioned being talked of quite highly on these forums, which was my point.

 resistance is great in single player! the story is fantastic, the gameplay is great. The only problem is, it is a slow burner.

No I don't, at least not this far after launch anyway. It's not difficult to look online and see whats out now and then see whats due for release for the rest of the year is it?

And besides, it's the same story with virtually every console launch ever. I don't usually buy a console at launch but rather wait until it's been out for at least six months to a year so that there are at least a few quality titles to play, but even then you are not spoilt for choice. I only got the PS3 before launch because someone offered it me, otherwise I would have waited until Christmas time.

I would have hoped there would be more games from Sony by now personally but I'm not slamming the console here, I thought it was a great piece of kit and was still using mine right up until I sold it, I will be buying another.

Right now, so long after launch, and I'm talking about US launch there still seem to be only 3 games anyone bothers with. I think that's kinda poor.

I wish I'd have kept it but it wasn't an option :(

Can't you just downgrade to XP, buy some BluRay movies and get out more? ;)

Not really the end of the day, it was common knowledge that the PS3 catalog of games was weak at launch.. just have to wait until the good games come out really.

Terrible AI, poor graphics, modelling errors, poor texture wraps, poor music, uninspiring level design, even less inspiring character design.

Yes, the story is decent, but that's about it. Everything else is about as generic as they come, a first-person by numbers if you will.

Insta;; Linux on it and mess about with MAME and AUE and lots of other linuxy stuff.

hours of fun!

Or you could just do it on a PC anyways...

Guys are any of you into SAK im curious?
Is it possible yet for BD file playback from PS3 internal harddrive.

What about networked or via USB rather than Optical-HD dumped?

seems to me your profession is ruining your hobby, yes accepted it ain't the best looking game but the day one of the main faults you find with a game is ' modelling errors ' is a sad day indeed. It plays well enough and it is enjoyable, enjoyment from gameplay and not from correctly modelled characters well I never !

I think it must be difficult to play games and enjoy them if you work in the industry. I have worked in graphic design and whenever I picked up a magazine I was looking at the layout and what fonts they used rather than just reading the articles!

which version of MAME have you got on it? I've been trying to get SDLMAME running, last part of the compile goes hay-wire, think it can't find some SDL libs on mine.
