What is white privilege?

. . . which kinda suggests that the Police were making it up as they were going along - so one has to ask
"Why did the Police stop the car in which Dawn Butler was being driven"?
To be polite, who really gives a ****? She has blown it up out of proportion as some lefty anti racist theme, making the police look bad. As far as I am concerned, she is in the wrong until Labour get back into power and make stopping cars and stop and search illegal.

She should be thanking the police for trying to do their job and police 'lockdown' which parts of London are in.

maybe she should go on a ride along for a few days in Brixton and see what policing is really about..

As mentioned a bit earlier I initially dismissed her claims, then started to take sides with her when things didn't seem to add up. But I've now completely flipped back again to seeing her as wanting to be a victim and whipping out her race card.

1) In her video she grins when the driver is being stopped, clearly realising this is her chance to play the victim.
2) Her video footage is edited to cut out some police replies. Why cut them out? Most likely it was to show the story in her own best light.
3) The driver appears to be white - or at least so light skinned that the police would not have known he was black or multi racial. It was the driver who was stopped, not her.
4) The chairman of the Metropolitan Police Federation is calling for their body-cam footage to be released (which apparently isn't allowed under normal circumstances). He seems to know what's on it and that it will not show her in a good light.

Agreed.

Ahhh, that's your perspective then, anything that isn't rabidly right-wing or that opposes racism is bad, Gotcha ;)

In this instance, the Police didn't need help, they were seemingly doing an excellent job of making themselves look bad without needing any help.

Yeah, right on!

Motorists should be allowed to do exactly as they please whilst in what might be their property and the Police should never be allowed to stop and search anyone at all, under any circumstances! ;)

A term which seems to be catching on for people like her is "race grifter". She knows she cant get any publicity any other way, no other talents.

I have no idea. What I am fairly certain of is that Dawn Butler is a relative no-mark looking to use this as a PR exercise.

What "job" were they doing when they stopped the car in which she was travelling? At the very best they screwed up because their fingers don't work and they didn't want any "Northern" cars driving around wealthy London ;)

What on Earth is that supposed to mean

She is just a clown and throwing fuel on the fire, she has no place in parliament.
I completely agree with this. She is in a very privileged position where she could do some very real good for her constituency and the country. Racial divisions are growing and she's just making them worse. Mind you it doesn't surprise me. Although I hadn't really heard of her before I just checked he background and wasn't surprised to find she was a member of Jeremy Corbyn's shadow cabinet.

Hopefully Keir Starmer will make the Labour party electable again. I desperately want a viable opposition.

So do I, have had enough of the current clowns in government. Fingers crossed Keir can pull it out of the bag. I would start by removing Dawn Butler and other race baiters/dead wood.

Sorry I meant those in Yorkshire are under lockdown so if the car flagged up then the police are going to check

She's lucky to have got out alive. I hear British police execute blacks on sight in the UK now.
That's what I read on FB and Twitter

If the police officer mistyped the reg, the car make and colour probably wouldn't match and the police would suspect dodgy plate-changing nefarious deeds. They would have to pull them over.

E: typo in the word 'mistyped' lolz

Ahhh, OK. I would like to think that the Police had some sort of reason to pull over a car in order to question the occupants . . . maybe they fancy Dawn Butler and wanted a kiss ;)

However, I do accept that their initial "stop" may have been the result of simple incompetence on their part and I also accept that Ms. Butler has not entirely surprisingly turned it into an "issue", relating to something about which she as a "person of colour" feels very strongly.

Perhaps she should call a press conference to be held in the No. 10 Rose Garden and explain her actions, without making any sort of apology

Err, sure. Whatever I guess? Is this meant to be some sick burn or something?
