What is your best photo you have taken in 2013 and why?

Sod the image width rule, it's worth the risk! :p

During the Iceland trip we knew we wanted to do Sunrise shots at the Glacier Lake, for obvious reasons, so after a day of travelling and shooting we camped out at the lake (which was bloody cold I might add) - but quite honestly it was SO worth it. We were presented with this majestic stunning surreal view that is quite hard to put into words and accurately capture in one photograph, hence taking several and stitching it.

Reason:
This particular moment of the trip really stood out for me. The Northern Lights were impressive every time but this was a one time thing and I would have to go to extreme lengths to get this view again. It makes me smile every time I look at it and if it wasn't for budget restraints I would have ordered a 6 foot canvas of this already however my money is going on other things, but no doubt I WILL have this on my wall in the near future. :)

My puppy in the sun, one of only three images I have taken all year(!).
iPhone 4S hence the quality.

Corfe Castle in Dawn Mist by throttle426, on Flickr[/IMG]

I was on holiday in Portland in the summer and we had day of heavy rain, i had seen pictures of Corfe Castle in mist so i decided to get up early the next morning and get some shots.I never been to Corfe before but I set off at 3.30 am following my trusty sat nav and it was very foggy and dark. I arrived at Corfe around 4.30am and as it was still dark i did not know where the castle was but i parked the car and headed up a path which took me up the side of the valley. As i climbed i could just make out the top of the Castle through the mist and was surprised to meet another tog . I set up my camera with my tripod and lee filters and waited, it seemed at first that the fog would not clear but eventually it did and i got some great images. The atmosphere was so still and quiet and i had real sense of what it must have been like hundreds of years ago looking over towards the castle.

Well that's it, I'm definitely not bothering to go back through my shots from the year!

Very nice :)

This is from last month at a place called Mellon Udrigle in the Highlands, my only dedicated trip of 2013, and I managed to get this on Day1. After 5 hours of driving, I arrived on the beach about an hour before sunset. When shooting a sandy beach I am often drawn to sand patterns and enjoy making simple compositions. A retreating tide left me a blank canvas to work with and thankfully there were no dog walkers around.

Reason:
There are only a handful of sandy beaches in Scotland that have a mountainous background, and for me, there is something magical about this location. Chatting to other photographers that I've met here in previous visits, and they all seem to agree. I'm pleased with this image mainly due to the pastel tones, the elements coming together at the right time to bring interest to the sky, and the arrival of the squally shower in the distance.

Hi guys. Not been in here for ages. Well, not since I sold my camera anyway. This year I have been mainly taking snap shots of my dog when I am out with him.

The image below took me a few goes to get right, after all having my Nexus 4 in one hand and a football in the other and then trying to keep Louis in shot, then throwing the ball at just the right height, then making it bounce high enough for him to jump.. Was, as you can say,

A right old ball ache..

I was happy with the outcome anyway. I should get a new camera soon as I really have got the bug again after using my Nexus.

Caption: I always like my dog to be active and enjoy himself. This is just the best time for him. He is outside, free and has his football. He loves his football.

Reason: It was hard to do this all by myself. (see top of my post)

I can safely say this is my best of this year.

Some really good shots here. Very jealous! I'll hopefully get a camera at some point in 2014, had too many big purchases this year.

I think I'll pick this one from 2013:

Prescott - British and Midland Hill Climb Championship 2013 by jj_glos, on Flickr

This was taken at Prescott where I have been many times.

The main reason I've picked it though, is to remind me of how crap I felt on the day and how useless I was all year with regards to photography and just plain getting out and about, especially with my family. My health suffered badly last year through neglect and it's something I'm not proud of. Onwards and upwards for the new year!

That's a stunning photo of Corfe castle, I took this one on a Panasonic TZ7 last year from inside the castle. Absoluting amazing place!

I run creative photography workshops and this was a shot from it in the Brecon Becons in the summer :)

Would probably go with this one. Being my first year really starting to get serious about photography, this is one of the few shots that I've been really pleased with. Might not be perfect but I feel it goes some way to represent how amazingly atmospheric it was that day driving through those New Zealand mountains.
