What is your best photo you have taken in 2013 and why?

hmm hard to say. 2013 was the first year i had a good camera.

i cant make up my mind lol. took some great shots at Europe's strongest man.

but i think as im a bit of an aviation geek these 3 stand out to me from the 1200+ i took at RAf Waddington this year.

The Grand Canyon, Arizona - Explore #11 by Stuart-Saunders, on Flickr

Why - Because i only managed to take pictures last year while i was in Vegas. It was a very slow year for photography for me, Which was a shame

This year kicks off with a bang! I fly to San Francisco and LA In 6 days! I Finally get the camera on the go again :D

that is a gorgeous shot. love it, would be a cracking wallpaper for eyefinity

I was lucky enough to visit some amazing places during 2013 and had the opertunity to photograph four different countries on three different continents but this image is may stand out for the year, I love the light and the composition and it reminds me of the time we spent in the Atlas mountains in Morrocco which is one of my favourite spots on Earth.

Some amazing shots in this thread, it really is amazing to see. 2014 is getting off to a good start I've got trips to Iceland and Paris already booked in and the 24-105mm F4L ready to go just need a carbon tripod and maybe a samyang 14mm f2.8 for the northern lights.

After getting a new camera last year, I was able to use it "in anger" for the first time last spring when we went to the lakes for a week at Easter. It was just after the snow deluge that had bought parts of the country to a halt so there was lots of snow covered peaks and streams swelling with meltwater to shoot. I've tried long exposure water shots with my previous DSLR but always failed with my budget lenses and lack of IS or an ND filter. I thought I'd try out my new budget IS lenses that I got with the camera and this time they came out beautifully. This one was the best of the bunch...

It's been a very quiet photography year for me. I've been stuck at my desk thesis writing for most of the year, so I think this is my favourite shot simply because it's from my first photo jaunt after handing in and it felt great just to be out with the camera without an accompanying feeling of guilt -

Up and dirty by Greg Kingston, on Flickr

I didn't take many photos this year that I really like. I had a great time at the F1 Monaco Grand Prix, but all the photos seemed pretty average. So it was a little ironic that a combination of my love of petrol and photography met at the speedway stadium at the back of my house on a murky evening with a £15 entry price.

I like this shot because although it was clear it was getting dark and the track lighting was poor, it manages to capture the movement of the bike and rider yet freeze the explosion of dirt coming from the back tyre. I'd also had a few cans of Carlsberg, so to grab anything half decent from the camera was a minor victory!

This is my current favorite.

Love this Ray..but how?

My fav picture of 2013 below .....The story behind it is as follows:

The groom is a rugby player, and him and his mates play 'dice', based on the number you through, results in a forfeit. Now all day he had avoided the dreaded number 6, which if throw.... everybody with you makes you a 'dirty' pint, of which you have to drink in one.

At the reception at about 7 oclock, one of the guys found a giant dice (part of the reception venue doubles as a school) so i ran down the small slope to capture him throwing the dice, and as luck would have it, he threw a 6...brilliant!

It's been a good year for me photography wise. I've managed to get to some stunning places this year. I basically only shoot landscape and wildlife so living in london is not the best...

I think this one is my favourite, however it had some tough competition from another couple of African panoramas and a couple of french photos. I haven't even begun processing shots from the Philippines over Christmas...

This was shot in the Okavango just after dawn, heading back from a night of wild camping in the Delta. I've always liked the whole shooting into the sun thing but never managed to get one that is remotely a keeper. This one just came together. Oddly, looking at it now, it's one of the few photos that looks better printed than on the screen.
