What is your scariest/jumpiest game of all time

As people have mentioned it, I've just gone back and played the Ravenholm level of HL2. It's actually more scary than I'd remembered..

Parts of HL2 and HL2 episode 1 and DOOM 3, made scarier by surround sound probably lol. Edit ravenholm for those who dont know:

HL2 Ep1! When you've got to find the lift, and all the lights go out....and the zombies....oh god the zombies....

EDIT: HL2 ravenholm as well! Those really fast zombies that jumped about, and the guy that helps you - he was scary when you first saw him.

hl2 ravenholm, i remember downloading the demo at like 3am and playing it the dark lol

EDIT: oh resident evil 4 when you first enter the village and only have the pistol

Any game with deep murky water inhabited with sharks or other nasties, particularly when you've gotta swim through it. Blows my mind how much It scares me.

Thief: deadly shadows - Shalebridge cradle level.

Not only was it the scariest part of any game I've ever played, but it was utterly compelling.

Doom 3, stopped playing cause it gave me a headache.

Apart from that Fear made me jump at the point where the little girl popped up, but that was surprise, not fear :P

I find games with supernatural content (ie. ghosts) scare me the most. Having said that, FEAR made me park my bricks many time. Resident Evil 1 was also extremely jumpy.

Resident Evil made me and my mate shriek like little girls when the dogs jump in through the window (and it was in the middle of the day as well)

Been playing Bioshock for the first time the last couple of days, definitely some very eerie/creepy bits with some nasty stuff jumping out at you :)

Silent Hill 1, I was so frightened for the most part of the game that on my second playthrough, I turned the music and ambient effects off.

Haha yeah I agree, I don't like feeling powerless in real life and that translates in to games - not having a solid floor under your feet but god-knows-what monster lurking is damn scary!

I have to agree with Ravenholm, especially when you and the guy are in the graveyard and you have to defend him for a bit or something.

FEAR made me jump at the beginning but then it became a tad predictable when the 'shock' moments were coming. Need to give many of these other suggestions a try

FEAR is definatly a scary game - especially if you don't know whats coming :p
However in the second game there was a part where it goes completely dark and your other team starts screaming or something like that - that really freaked me out :p

with fear the freakyist bit for me was where your in the elivator and it goes dark and then the light comes back on and the little girl is stood right next to you

the jumpiest part for me was where you was going through the offices and the little girl runs from behind a desk into you........

but like what as been said the game was pretty predictable.......

silent hill just **** me up from beginning to end
