What "man jobs" have you done today?

Made some fortifications to my shed. It is mainly to stop anyone peering through the window more than anything. Live in a nice area but better to be safe than sorry.

Pic of one of them in place:

I had an identical set up at my last place, except I didn't use a cramp, but made a bracket with a hole, which I fitted to the joist, you could access spline lock from both side of shutter, just push up it & then use spline key to extend the bolt through the hole.

Ha, the cramp was just temporary while I was fitting the keep. I wouldn't want this crashing down on my head while working!

Using the spline lock is a great idea, I didn't think of that. I have been looking around in B&Q today for something and glad I didn't find anything now. Thanks :).

I am actually :D, nice idea and saves me having to buy anything else.

Now to add another door at the back and then get the ground levelled out so I can put some flags down.

Spent the last week digging up the garden. After two 5 ton skips, clearing 20m of decking with 20 odd concreted posts for support, the end is in sight.

Unfortunately I've run in to these bad boys, 7 to go. Can't even leverage them out by hand due to clayey ground. Metpost hell.

Real buggers getting them out, got out some last year by use two builder trestles one either side of metpost, & a length of 2" iron pipe on trestles & a suspended from that a small hand winch, hooked winch cable around metpost & 5 minutes winching, out they came.

Make a start on the garden here, last owner used 18" wide strip of corrugated roof sheeting partly buried in the ground to make raised borders & held in place with pieces numerous of angle iron between 2' to 3' in length.
Have dug out dozens so far, got them in front & rear garden, had the asbestos removal team in last to remove five 12' sheets that I found buried.
And I must have 2 ton plus of decent walling stone which I'm still finding buried in the garden.

That's interesting, got a couple of saw horses and a 36" pry bar.... but I have a feeling if I was to follow your lead, I'd end up needing a couple of new saw horses :)

I had dug out two, it was heavy clay & hard going, there were still about fourteen to remove.

Had a flash of inspiration, steel trestles set up 5' high worked a treat, gave me space for 2'-3' lift.:)

Dismantled some fitted wardrobes in the master bedroom. After lunch I'll be sawing them up to go to the tip alone with the shredded remains of the trees and shrubs I pruned back at the weekend.

This afternoon I'll be lifting a laminate floor and glossing the woodwork in that room.

This evening I'll be in my garage building up a pushbike from a bucket of parts.

Had a busy weekend of 'man jobs' which included:

1) Finishing off removal of rubble from smashing up a 10m concrete path (which I did on Thursday)
2) Digging 20metres of trench which was 1 spade width and about a foot deep.
3) Laying conduit and cable for future electrics at the end of the garden
4) Refilling trench
5) Starting raising the level of the ground where the concrete path had been so it's level with the turf
6) Removing old and rubbish gripper rods ready for new hall, stairs and landing carpet which is being fitted tomorrow

Not bad going for an overweight, unfit office worker!! Amazingly I could even move without aching afterwards!!! :)
