What "man jobs" have you done today?

Finished replacing the rotten joist ends:

Manly. (Ignoring the smudge).

I was resealing the bath Friday night and discovered the overfill pipe is MISSING from our bath... No wonder things appeared to be getting damp.

Replaced entire bath pop up plug and overfill for £14 and easy 30min job, previous owners were complete fool and this is another example and why I should have got a full survey but live and learn!

Anyway, wet rot destroyed boards and suspect joists are as damaged so looking to undertake the same bolt on method you have used. Did you just bolt to as much old joist as possible from what was left from cutting the rot away?

I cut away all the rot and treated the remaining joist with rot and bug protector.

Then bolted the new timber to as much good joist as we could before we hit the sleeper wall. The new joist is 2 x 5" compared to the old ones which were 3" X 3".

Managed to get roughly 90cm of overlap. Bolts just under 20cm apart with around 10cm at each end.

Ensure you get a timber connector on the bolts inbetween the joists.

Built an Ikea cupboard for coat and shoe storage. Put up a Darth Vader poster and frame in the man cave. put some hooks on the bathroom door. Put the Christmas lights up round the front room window.

Waiting for an Electrician to come round and diagnose the issue with the bathroom heated floor and a bathroom fitter to quote me on shower cubicle fitting, will they show up? Who knows.

Think that's it, I could have filled this thread since buying this house in May but never noticed it before

Chimney was looking a bit knackered...

I decided to get it done today as I finished work early.
It looked like it was going to rain (and it did) so I used neat Quick Cem :D:D
If you have used it before you will know you have anything from 5 to 15 minutes to use it.

I got the last trowel full out the bucket and gave it a quick flatten off but it was too late. It had gone off. So thats how it will be staying. Least the rain wont affect it :p:D

I had another bucket full left in the barrow, that will now be part of the rockery :D:D

I need to have my chimney done. The flaunching is broken.

Did you hire a scaffold? I'm tempted to try it myself but have zero experience with such things
