What "man jobs" have you done today?

Do not get small splitters - an axe must be twice as fast?

I totally agree with you - when I was younger and had the space and a big lump of wood as chopping block a axe was all I used - Now not having the space or the strength in my arms and back I can no longer wield an axe or maul - Also if I was still into cutting down trees etc then a electric splitter would be the norm- (I did have one and sold it) - So remember not everyone is young and fit and this is for occasional splitting as some delivered logs are to big to go on my little 4.5kw log burner.:D

Oops, did miss that, sorry !

Stripped the lining paper off the chimney breast and returns ready for the log burner / liner / hearth / mantle and skim tomorrow .....

Compared to some of your guys posts this is quite basic but...

Moved into this house about 14 months ago and the garden was so neglected when I got here, grass was over grown everything was just a mess, I got the main grass and bushes under control and just maintained that but never really tackled the over grown nettles, I just didnt have time and by the time the rest of the garden was under control it was winter...

Anyway one thing lead to another and I am finally getting it under control now, this is about 3 hours in a lot more work needs to go into it, all ive done today is basically remove the horrible over grown stuff, the actual garden needs a lot of cleaning up.

Replaced my exterior drain today! O.o

A simple 'what's that funny smell?' turned into lifting half the patio, digging out the pipe which my kitchen sink drains into, found it had caved in so a quick trip to Wickes to grab a new (plastic) one, and popped it all in.

Still need to make good around it - so cut some out of a paving slab, put some bricks around it and pour some concrete on a bit of an angle down towards it

Replaced my fuse board this afternoon. Was an old 6 way rewireable fuse one, changed the tails from 16mm to 25mm. Replaced it with a 10 way split rcd one. Carry on of a job as lots of the cables were short and my downstairs ring main kept tripping one of th rcds so it's just on a 32 amp mcb until I get a proper tester from work Monday.

Finally started on the last sash window and the most poor condition one. Rotten bottom, all putty cracked and falling out. Luckily it is one top of landing looking out onto enclosed courtyard so it doesn't have to be perfect when finished.

Its a bit more highbrow than "Dunroamin"

Pulsebriver.

Shelves look good but they won't look right till you can't get another item on there.

Thereisonlyone.

My next door neighbour has also erected an out side bog - next size up though - right behind my log store. ;)
