What "man jobs" have you done today?

Worst job ever! I tried to clean ours, but there are some marks that nothing will shift. Even tried the really powerful stuff that you leave on for 30 mins and it did nothing.

Lady from work got a local company out to clean her free standing cooker prior to selling when new kitchen installed with hob/oven, £45 & a few hours later she had an oven that looked almost unused. Will be getting number for that company for any future oven cleaning as I also found the products available off the shelf don't budge the more stubborn hard baked overspills.

As for my next task, installing an additional rad in the entrance porch & upsizing hall, kichen & master bedroom rads undersized by builder when house built (they meet building standard as of build date but underperform in reality hence upsizing). This will be done during the xmas holiday, new rads in shed & pipework & fittings in a box somewhere in garage! Not 1st time I've been quicker buying a fitting or length of pipe rather than waste time searching in my garage for it (then finding it a few weeks after jobs done).

I doubled up 10 roof lathes then creosoted them with real creosote and old engine oil - They are to go under shed when log store is empty so I can jack shed up. - Shed is on concrete base and these lathes are 3mm bigger than old ones so get that done this winter and it will last me out.

No matter what you wear you can always smell it forever.

Today I cleaned the guttering, gutter boards and soffits, It had not been done for years so was rather dirty. Also had free cavity wall insulation installed this afternoon, by far one of the best improvements we have made so far. The heat retention of the property just tripled!

Just been out and trimmed the 10ft tall fur trees at the bottom of m garden, only done the garden side as we are out to visit the grandparents this afternoon! :(

How many holes did they drill for the cavity wall insulation?

I had free loft insulation done under the CSCO scheme but haven't had cavity wall done yet. One side of house is pebble dashed and don't want it looking silly with 100s of holes all over.

House my partner just sold a few months back had cavity wall insulation done on 2 pebble dashed walls. Company had various colour mixes for the mortar to seal drill holes after insulation installed but have to admit were still noticable but not unsightly. In time the mortar used will age & should blend in more. The advantages far outweighed any negatives & probably helped to sell the house, the heat retention within the property was very noticable within days of completion. Result & for free under government home insualtion scheme. I'd say go for it.

Finally got around to breaking up the concrete path outside the back door today.

Was only intending to relay a 4mtrs x 1mtr section, but original concrete is only 30mm thickness in places, & the other remaining section has now cracked., so I got to do the whole length.

Still a bit of digging out to do, shuttering, so it will be Monday before the concrete is poured:(.

Front and back doors ordered, just need to wait for RockDoor to make the things!

Fitted a new TV bracket, need to rewire the tv power supply, route two cat 6 cables and an HDMI lead, along with providing power to the AV cupboard and cutting a hole in the top, ready for sky to be installed tomorrow.

Our walls are Bath stone with black mortar. The drill holes were always at a corner join (widest point) in the mortar and were all filled with colour matched mortar. I'm not sure how many holes were drilled no more than 20 on the whole house!

fixed the gate at the side of the house that got wrecked in the winds last week. Also had to "try" and re-align my sky dish as it was blown out of line so no signal.

After 20 mins or so of giggling about - sorted - full signal restored and £60 not paid out for an engineer to fix it (also a 15 day wait time!)

I relocated my sat dish from the chimney to the front wall, two drunks high, about12' feet, saving myself a wad, being able to tweak it when the blows it off course now.

Fixing the gates for my nana as couple of wooden lattice pieces had come loose so she couldn't shut it. They were nailed on etc and I detest nails - bodgers tool in my eyes.

So I removed the nuts, drilled the hole bigger put a nut and bolt with washers on. Solid now. :)

Fixed the other gate which had a screw in and was simply screwing it in better because it annoyed me. I left her with a bolt up there so if it comes loose again i'll replace that one.

Wired in PIRs down my hallway to turn control the lights (3 to switch lights on as you walk down the hallway)

hung 30 pictures on the hall way walls (using a bosch quigo laser level - great piece of kit)

Built a 'vintage' chandelier out of an old piece of timber, fabric twisted flex, antique brass e27 fittings and long filament bulbs (squirrel cage filament).

Not that manly... but satisfying!

Striped wallpaper in main bedroom.

Checked back bedroom door to see why it shuts at bottom not top, took door off and it is definitely warped. Think tonight I will look for a new door, or maybe 3 might do all of upstairs.

Stripped all the wallpaper off my living room and removed the dado rail. Unfortunately I have discovered damp under the window and all the plaster is rotten. Can't tell whether it is from the holes drilled by various TV and phone companies through the wall at that point but it will need a professional to check out where the source of the water is.

I took off a door I don't need (I have three doorways in my nerd room) in preparation for putting a bookcase in there. Cut up some skirting board offcuts I had left in the garage to make shelves for the bookcase.

I hope to put them up tomorrow and fit some hardboard to the back.

My room is just about finished then.
