If it looks right - it's right. Especially if partner OKs it :D

Looks more like it's centred on the wall but the spotlights aren't, to me.

It is right, measured twice and verbal approval before the tools go away, I know the score ..... :D

The spotlights are an odd one due to the vaulted ceiling

Had many "mock ups" with the electrician and with the ceiling shape, false breast / range and making sure we got even lighting without shadows / dark spots it was the best solution even though maybe a bit uneasy on the eye if you look at it for too long.

Again, Mrs is happy and you really don't notice it when your in there every day ...!

Something in my own house for a change :o

Changed the utility tap to match the kitchen as the old one was too low for my (new-ish) car was buckets to fit under and was also scaled up and generally crap.

Thankfully the brass nut had been fitted at the front and with it not being a 1.5 sink access was much easier. This sink has also had minimal use in 10 years vs the kitchen sink which was so difficult to access and had rusted somewhat I ended up taking the sink out completely to get at it. Memory lane.

I was hoping to be able to connect a hose to the existing compression fitting but needed a little more room to avoid the hose kinking. So chopped both off and fitted new.

Still debating what to do with the house - money being the pacing item for the mega-jobs (extensions etc). Decided to throw up a new light into the kitchen. £189.99 Hue device that came with a switch (~15-20?). Solid, well made, even came in its own cloth bag :D

Box was outrageously big:

Interestingly, all the gubbins was on the light itself. Felt a tad counter intuitive but I guess it makes sense.

Great news on not having a floor in the bathroom made finding a joist easy enough...

Fin: as you can see, the platform became the Mad Hatters tea party...

Does fixing your own balls ups count?

Spent the last 3 hours cleaning up an utter cluster **** i caused by falling asleep with the bath running, turned the bath on and went into the bedroom with my little boy he was watching the ipad whilst the bath was filling

Next thing i knew my daughter woke me up coz all the lights had gone out, jumped off the bed into a sodding pool of water, the whole upstairs is wood floor (excl the tiled bathroom) so the water spread all thru my bedroom and the hallway, water dripping from light fixtures downstairs…. Utter disaster.

Used every towell and bed sheet available to soak as much water up as possible, Removed all the light fittings downstairs and replaced all the wagos etc for dry ones and got the power back on with a couple of fixtures that are prob beyond saving left off.

I think my daughter saved my bacon as could have been 100x worse as looks like it had only overflowed for a min or so but a tiny bit of water goes so far and causes so much damage.

Will cross my fingers, wait for the inevitable patches on the ceiling to appear and then repaint in a few weeks.

I've done similar before, got in to the shower and left a basin running. 5 minutes later I turn the shower off but can still hear running water, I panic and think its the shower leaking in the wall but then the penny drops. I was quite unwell and not really in a fit state to do anything! Like you I pulled the down lights out and left everything to dry out but was quite lucky most of it flowed freely into the kitchen below.

Then I had a run-in with a fibre washer and a toilet service valve and came back 2 days later and had to drill holes in the hallway ceiling to let the water out. About an hour after that the power tripped...

Very lucky on both occasions that it needed a minimal amount of redecorating but no walls or ceilings to come down.

Zinser Cover Stain is your friend if you do find patches emerge.
