What "man jobs" have you done today?

You may not be thinking of me, but I certainly used a Grohe wall hung WC frame and toilet in my downstairs loo and posted about it on here.

I got it all from Amazon. Sometimes the kit comes up quite cheap on there, for whatever reason.
I was flipping between Amazon and Victorian Plumbing when I was doing the en suite the other year, ended up with Victorian Plumbing as they had everything in stock, but Amazon was slightly cheaper on the items they had at the time. Had to send most back and replaced as the pallet had been re-wrapped during transport and lots of items had broken, they must have literally dropped it off the back of a truck! They bent the metal in wall toilet frame, basin cracked, toilet itself chipped amongst other damage.

Anyone know what the best underlay is?

I want carpet for 3 bedrooms , landing and stairs (total 85 ish sqm) and want the BEST underlay (I don't care about price to a degree) for sound deadening primarily - I have got a quote from a local firm which I'm happy with (just shy of £3.5k)

Has anyone heard of "Hypertread HD underlay"
Which I believe is this stuff

Any comparisons? How would this compare to cloud 9?

Should I look at 11mm /similar? I have read the thicker the underlay the more it can soften the carpet and make it last less long?

If you are purely interested in sound reduction, try https://www.tradepriced.co.uk/product-category/carpet-underlay/sound-reducing-carpet-underlay/

The 11.4mm Tredaire has an impact rating of 46db.

We had some 11mm Cloud 9 Cumulus fitted and it makes a huge difference compared to some of the thinner stuff.

Fixed the fence which had been blown out this week with some odd pieces of wood I had left.

Needed to get a bit creative but it’s fine now and it will buy me some time! The panel needs replacing as it’s rotten at the bottom & the cross pieces, but you can’t do just replace one can you, too big to go in the car & min £200 for free delivery..

I think I replaced 8 or 10 last year, the other side of the garden needs doing now so 8-10 more, then this was down the side of the house and is a big 6x5, then there’s about another 10 panels there.

It soon all adds up, my neighbours will probably go 50% with me but I’m waiting for spring so I can paint it too before it goes in. It looks nice when fresh & new as it’s all the feather edge style but I’ve more important things to spend hundreds on!

We had the bathroom split into a shower room and utility when we had the loft conversion done. 3 years ago last December and a few bits round the house didn't get done due to falling out with the builder.

S eventually got round to putting skirting and architrave on in the utility room ....

Floor done with new skirting, flat and no bounce at all so pleased all the prep paid off levelling to floor and replacing joists by the back door etc. 5mm sonic gold type foam.

Invested in the Titan vacuum too with the extra filter to capture all the dust (blue bag didn’t seem great)

Now to grout the bathroom in anthracite Mapei

What flooring is that in the hallway? Looks decent!

Wickes Arreton, 12mm. Half the reviews of people complaining about it have clearly not fitted it properly when you see their pics

phs4MhU.jpg GDR4Ze2.jpg 7MJI5EE.jpg Yeh. I also spent a lot of time making sure the sub floor was level with noggins and new joists in some places. If the subfloor isn’t they you are just asking for the laminate to break. Those edges need fully supporting as the cut thru for the lock is about 9mm deep !

Forgot I stood on the mains t junction and the solder pulled out. Bit of water ! T piece splits the water to the two properties in the house

Anyway microfibre clothes saved the day. The sponge was just rubbing the grout around rather than taking it away. All done now so will wait to buff tomorrow then finally fit the rest of the bits. Can start gently bringing up the ufh temp too

Bit of damp so replaced joists and put on dpc and cleared the soil. foam is to try and keep anymore damp out.

(partially) Built a shoe cupboard (stage 1 of n):

Smashed up a toilet and started on the wall hung thing:

I've ordered this:

As I have a clay pipe directly out of the floor. I can then reduce to a 90mm using the Grohe included adaptor. Does that seem correct?
