What "man jobs" have you done today?

I took the fitting off and tried to remove the olive but it was totally stuck. Ended up taking another 30mm that I didn't really want to off of the mains feed. Whacked my favourite Hep2o fittings on and I am all leak free -

^ unfortunately I didn't have a straight coupler but the 90 into a 135 (?) means the pipe is under zero pressure.

Super odd. I will be binning the full bore compression fitting as I have never had this issue before.

That section of the copper pipe might have been damaged slightly. Oh well, all's well that ends well; so far I've never had any problems with Hep20.
Possibly but certainly not visible. I am blaming a poor compression fitting or I got unlucky with an olive. Of course user competence could come into this but it isn't my first rodeo!

Today I have been mostly -

Putting up a new outside security light (3rd in 3 years !)

They all seem to be cheap plastic/LED crap these days.

Can you not get a 135 with female on both ends? Imo the less joints the better.

Yeah but I was operating on what was in stock unfortunately. And big lol, but I was just testing the 135 in the 90 and the way hep2o works means that is now a permanent fixture as the gap is too tight to fit the key lol!

We use push fits at work (different kind of fitting), but often a thin screwdriver is needed to press the collar (assuming these work the same way).

New front door furniture & a new barrel.
Changed all the window locks & fittings as well.

Easy jobs & they earn brownie points with the wife

Looks great! Am surprised you had to get a 'man' for the door hinges :D

I was away all weekend with my little one, but managed to whack some caulk up the new WC cupboard - swiftly running out, then got rid of another 9 cardboard boxes that were holding moisture from the shed. I'm almost entirely out of cardboard now, thank god. I need to build a lumber truck for offcuts though for sure.

Instead I spent an hour sorting out my screws and plugs into Stanley boxes before putting all of my cable clips into the now empty Fischer box. I feel so satisfied.

Definitely need to get a new tool bag. The zip up Stanley one is doing my nut in.

I think the wood and the spindles look great.
If anything I’d be tempted to have the posts and the handrail wood as well.
Yeah there are options of changing the posts etc and tying in top pieces but to be honest the current ones are solid

I watched a YouTube video of them putting new newel posts and handrail in and looked fairly easy, but then they lightly moved the thing and looked wobbly as ****!! Check this at 5.27 and this is the suppliers video

Done my fortnightly filling of the garden bin by having a good sort out of the shrubs to just lower their height whilst there aren't any leaves so that it isn't monstrous during growing season!

Leaves are just about finished so its time to dig out the compost heaps and tip it on teh veg patch/spread on the beds, it marks the turn of the year it'll take a few weeks to finish it but it starts today. Compost is like money however much you make its never enough! I've taken to collecting every scrap of kitchen waste even clearing up the grass verges outside the neighbours house needless to say they were pleased lol

Possibly an "easy" fix would be to make the newel post caps from wood to match the oak. I think it would tie things together without having to change the whole thing.
