What "man jobs" have you done today?

And battery powered is a lot less stinky than petrol, 2 stroke being really bad.

If going for a battery mower, take the size of the lawn the manufacturer says it'll cover on one charge and then half it. The batteries will degrade over time and the length of the grass being cut affects the load on the motor and so battery charge. Always have some spare batteries (or a quick charger) as you don't want to be left with a half cut lawn.
My Ryobi mower has one port for the active battery and a (not electrically connected) port to carry a spare. When one runs out you just slot in the spare.

Little one is off today so have been trying to do productive "evening" tasks during the day so I can claw some work time back this evening.

I painted the toilet gloss/radiator yesterday eve:

This is "as done as its going to get" bar the silicone I think. The walls need another coat but tbh I think I need bathroom paint as the emulsion shows up water marks too much (around the sink mostly).

Yesterday I also moved all of the patio furniture and pots out of the way to lay down some Patio Magic. Fingers crossed it has a good impact as the moss was redic. It has been under 24 hours and seems to have done something as it brushed off fairly well in some areas.

I also swapped the waste pipe in the WC for a McAlpine solvent weld + chrome, and replaced the exterior with solvent well stuff too:

I bumped into the neighbors too, and have had approval to double up the posts and fit the panels 'on their wall' which is a great way forward tbh...

I think I'll need a couple of weekends on fencing as I need 8 panels down the bottom of the garden.

I'll start here though as its visible :D

Note to self, when trying to replace a camera for an outdoor CCTV camera, don't just pull the old cable out and then expect to thread the new one through.

Our walls are ~80cm thick and the cable is getting lost in a void. When running the original cable, i had the benefit of an electrictian neighbour who i borrowed various tools from like 1m long drill bits. No such luck this time! I'm not on the hunt for something really long and thin. Sadly my penis is too short.

I got a pretty serviceable cable puller rod set from Aldi or Lidl, I've broken about 3 fittings doing an entire house rewire but ultimately, got my money's worth. Worth a check if you can afford to wait a day or two!

Cheers on the cable pullers, i'm gonne have a few more goes using some thin bamboo sticks we have for indoor plants and will then move onto those.

The doors are in. 2 days later than expected (the original fitter had a car crash and broke his collar bone apparently. Mustn't have been his fault because he is obliging doctors orders and having 8 weeks out :)). New fitter seemed like a top bloke. Came in a van with artisanal sign writing of his glass business.

1. I need to get rid of that god damn fibre optic cable. I am hoping the hole they drilled to get it into the house is big enough for me to squeeze the connector through, otherwise I guess I am paying some big money to have it re-terminated in the attic...
2. I need to build out the wall either side of the door and insulate, as it is single skin here.
3. New door bell? That is what the wire at the top of the door is.
4. Tile the walls either side?
5. Replace the battered front bricks?
6. Replace the clay tile floor
7. Get my outdoor plug fitted in the porch so I can granny charge the EV. I'll probably run the cable for a future car charger too.

1. All good really. Although despite numerous backwards and forwards they have given me the wrong door mechanism so that when the door is shut, you need a key to unlock it.

No pics but managed to tick off a few jobs today.

1) pulled cat5 from the loft to the soffit and fit CCTV camera to cover the garden

2) bought a bow saw and started to cut down some of the tree branches I had so I could store them in the log store

3) bought a hosepipe, made it up and attached it and the holder to the wall

4) fit a diverter valve to the upstairs bath tap so I can connect a shower hose to it and finally have a shower in the upstairs bathroom. Worked a treat, just need a shower head holder and bath screen now

Now that I have a hosepipe the next job is to get up and clean the gutters out! One for Friday maybe.
