What "man jobs" have you done today?

Just spent a very pleasent morning cleaning outside of windows - The only trouble living in sticks with a field at bottom of garden is dust -dust- dust and dust - They cut and baled the grass two days ago and every thing is covered in a thin layer of dust.

You can wash the car in morning and when you put it away later in afternoon it's covered in dust and Robin poo. Little blighter sits on door mirror and fights his reflection in door glass pooing himself in the process.

I'll put up with the dust, which we too get plenty of, to live in the countryside! As for Mr. Robin, I am just biding my time until I start doing something gaga like that as well :)

If we started doing what the Robin was doing don't you think door mirror would break off ?

I am convinced the wife and I are doing that now but we can't remember it.

Chris - I have to ask - Do you drive classic cars and was it you at Goodwood or are there two Chris Wilsons.
:D

Not me, although I do like my old rear wheel drive Volvo road cars, if they might be called classics.

Mowed my late mother in laws garden whilst over sorting bits out. Then once home installed a test window tint film to the conservatory roof to see if this will solve my glare issues for less than £15k

Make a cardboard, or better plastic, cut-out to stick on the mirror to address this problem.

I was going to buy a Xmas robin and stick it on top of the wooden cage the trailer sits in - I forgot and to be honest they are quite expensive for one that looks like a robin.
I have solved half the problem and cut his nesting bush down. :)

You might find you've got less glare, but the light is very diffuse and far more annoying as it will light up the whole thing.

Last week I trimmed the edges of the garden with the strimmer and it died halfway through. The cable's been repaired a few times and it was corroded inside so I replaced it with a Black & Decker strimmer.

This week I started cutting the grass and the lawnmower kept cutting power, thought it could be the cable as well but the handle made a popping sound, sparked and started smoking.

My hatred of all things Bosch increases by the day but at least I can replace it with something reliable now.

Edit: Photo attached, seems the cable has been crushed by the handle so probably been like that since it left the factory.

Finished tiling the log store roof. Loads of cuts but hally with it and just the flashing of the edges and ridge tiles

Cut the tiles tight around the window cill then up against the timber upstand I'll flash over and down on to the tiles

Cut the "open" end tight against the "fascia"

But I'm going to plant a timber upstand on there as well so that can be flashed in a similar way

Short length to test the height

Still quite a few tiles left over

And enough "croc" from the cuts to last a lifetime:D

When I cleaned all the windows the other day I also cleaned the garage door and frame - Today I spent an hour in the sun polishing it all with Resin car polish.
Big mistake really as sitting here on PC the sun is shining on door and the glare from it into window next to me is blinding.

That's seriously OTT, I can't remember when I last polished a car, let alone a garage door!
