What "man jobs" have you done today?

Brother-in-law popped round to lend a hand - gave him a pair of goggles & work gloves, hammer & breaker bar, then aimed him at the remaining skirting boards, whilst I started painting the walls with Dulux "Sweet Embrace"...

...two hours later:

(If I ever need an emergency roller, I'm sure Poppy would be useful!)

Taken up my patio - could do with thoughts on best way to "run" the fall on it.

I was thinking run it to down to the left side near the trees and cut in a drainage pipe and cover with shingle.

Got an old customer out of the dung today by fitting an aerial (had no TV at all) and removing some really insane amount of Home DIYer + Youtube educated cables wrapped around their house.
The inside is just a nightmare of cables being both AV and electrical*

As a complete change to that I spent the afternoon chatting between the US and the Republic of Ireland on mail about a possible change for my future.

* Electrical being handled by a qualified Sparks.

Second coat on lounge, whilst brother-in-law cut in above the kitchen units (he's 6ft5, so no step ladder required). Glad we did the undercoat of PBW, as the couple of patches of grey (behind radiators) really changes the colour of the Sweet Embrace from a soft lilac, to a grotty, washed-out grey/pink.

Also sneakily installed the new blinds whilst the Boss takes her Mum out for dinner, giving us some much needed privacy.

And took three kittens to the vet for first vaccinations & microchipping, in preparation for finding buyers; it's been a busy, expensive day.

Just an update on the Wet and Forget Rapid Application (it's a pink solution rather than the blue stuff, that clips onto the end of your hose)

Before (29th July)

After, 3 weeks and 4 days later

I'm not sure what to think? Is three weeks still too soon? Doesn't look like the black lichen spots are being tackled.

To be fair, posting it like this is the first time I'll be seeing the photos "side by side" so to speak.

Uploaded some "perfect fit" blinds to the bifolds in the kitchen

Then the two windows had some blinds fitted

Just need to agree on the fabric and will get some for the roof lights

I like the "roman" style fabric blinds and have some in my office but to be fair even with a tall window I do notice how they reduce the amount of light into the room.

Cheers

At this time of year we do get a.lot of low light and gese certainly help. As it gets darker and colder will also make it a lot cosier

Roof light blinds ordered today too (they're gonna be fun to fit !!)

To be brutally honest those before and after pics look the same to me.

I watched a YouTube video a while back where a guy tester all the products (“Proper DIY” I think) and basically none compared to a pressure washer.

Issues - as I mentioned before.......I ***ked up and ordered 9mm taper edge instead of 12mm square edge. No idea how that happened - but no way I was carrying the boards back/returning them/starting again. It means the ceiling a few "unsupported" flexy bits but nothing too serious.

It also means the plugs/sockets feel a bit suss. I might take all the plastic boxes out and put them back in after a skim.

Forgot to put blocking final pic lefthand side, so will get that done and I am almost there.

Also forgot to measure where the inner 3 spotlights are, d'oh lol.

Only found the odd hour during the week so managed to finish off the noggings in the garage floor today.

Tomorrow will cut up the PIR insulation boards and fit them, and work out how much flooring to order.

Any recommendations for best subfloor? Previous floor was 22mm tongue and groove chipboard and it seemed ok, but would potentially upgrade for something more resilient.
