What "man jobs" have you done today?

Damn - Haven't cracked a red since my wife got preggers. Looking forward to ribeye and Malbec!
Full disclosure - I mentioned enjoying a Black Forest style stout the other day. My partner found this "wine": Jamshed Black Forest Mess. It's actually an aromatized wine AKA it's got Ribena in it.

Bloody delicious but it's not proper wine :P

Cleaned the driveway, about 170 sqm of it. The patio cleaner attachment wasn't cutting it so the masonry nozzle came out. Needs a blackspot/lichen cleaner, then sand, then seal.

After about 3.5hrs the Mrs said it didn't look any better. Thanks. It's not grey anymore at least.

This looks great btw - don't listen to her!

I insisted we had someone come and do ours, as I knew it would take a whole day. He ended up doing 8am-7pm on a Friday and still wasn't finished. I ended up out there helping with cleanup otherwise he'd have never finished

The upsetting part is once you've cleaned it, you get to watch it slowly get dirty again... Knowing in a years time you'll need to repeat the task

If you get the process of cleaning, treating and sealing sorted then it will last way more than a year. I last did our drive block paving in May 2023 and nothing has been done to it since (not even cleaned) and it looks spotless. The rain is enough to wash any dirt off and the sealer and treatment keeps lichen, moss and similar at bay.

I treated my roof (no sealer yet) and it lasted 2.5 years before any sign of moss and even then it was only a few tiny spots in a gully but I re-did it recently as I had the tower scaffold out for another job.

sure you don't want some uplighters in there to make it more cosy for watching tv .. is there a big sofa on it's way ?
(with the office chair it's looking like the sensory deprivation room from Ipcress file )
