What "man jobs" have you done today?

Removing extra concrete that had been added years ago.
The brickwork is to be rendered later.

Now onto the summer house/shed that Youtube Wally built!

Rot being removed and then jacked up to take away the 4cm droop

10cm x 10cm supports added with brick courses to finish later and rest of rot to be chopped out.

Been on with the loft for a month or so, removed what little loft insulation we had up, and put down 100mm, then 200mm of top up. Also started on the inline fan today, was going to use the insulated flexi, but decided on 100mm solid, as it's such a short run.
Decided to remove the inner part from the flezi and slide the outer insulated part over the pipe to insulate it, hopefull it should be good. Just need to core ourside now :(

Keep a very close eye on that fan after a while - it's not sealed and will leak condensate, trust me!

Begun finishing another 2 year long job - final bit of skirting for the living/dining room. The wall is out a bit - probably due to being a bit tight with the plaster when I filled the chase in. 3 screws pulled it tight and a fraction of caulk. Also the socket has been broken for like a year so I might swap that over tomorrow.

Need to fill the bit I've made up bottom right and the screw holes, but the filler stinks the whole house out.

Also sanded the archway ready for paint, and removed the door and filled up the old hinges/door handle in readiness for new hardware.

Not really looked at how the faces meet up, might split it and put a bead of silicone on the faces, to try and seal them. Think that would help??

You could try but it might end up a mess - gaskets would be better, I even wonder why the manufacturer didn't design it with this in mind. If it leaks water then surely it leaks air too? Perhaps it's in case of a blockage, the air has somewhere to escape to rather than burn the motor out but I doubt that.

You'd have to seal all this up.

Apologies for the dirty only fan image. You'll have to pay for the next one :D.

Things slowing down now that you've got another young 'un? Get used to those 2 year long jobs......

So since getting back from holiday last week I've had to repair the boiler it was clogged up with crap in the run off valve that I had to remove and then after cleaning that blow up the pipe to clear the blockage and then 2 days later dismantle most of the bathroom units to get to the leaking toilet, the pipe from the cistern to the loo had worked loose and every flush just poured water behind the units, didn't realise until it started to drip on the missus while she was sat on the settee!!

Hopefully that's it for a while now but I'm aware these things tend to come in threes.

I've seen worse :D I'll have to have a good look at it. I'm a bit limited in the new job to what I can get my hands on, might see if I can get some sort of container to bund it, seal that up around the feet, hopefully to minimize anything, if it does leak.

I considered something like a cat litter tray or something similar.

Super slow day! New kid is taking up a lot of time but I'm smashing the movie to-watch list. However I did manage to do the wood filler on the 2 kitchen door removals, and sand down the living room door. I also routed out the hinges before being told to stop. Hoping I can paint and get the door first fix hung tomorrow....

Desperate to paint the utility!

Shifted the packs of flooring I picked up from Liverpool on Monday - I meant to do it on Weds after recovering in bed on Tuesday, but the universe had other plans; dealing with the bank after my sister got scammed for several thousand (she has severe epilepsy and learning difficulties - the scammers convinced her to add remote access software on her laptop  ). They cleaned out her bill account via Paypal, but thankfully I've got control of the accounts that hold the funds for her 24/7 care.

Lloyds have been excellent - their fraud & vulnerable customer department have blocked any further transactions, without mucking up all the direct debits & standing orders she has set up. PayPal have been appalling - despite plenty of proof, they've refused to reverse the transactions, but gave a £160 "gesture of good will". I've argued that if PayPal thought everything was legit, they'd have refused to return a single penny.

Hopefully Lloyds will see sense and reimburse the stolen funds.
Action Fraud & Police have been sympathetic, but ultimately useless.
After months of back & forth, Lloyds have finally decided to refund my sister by reversing the transactions the scammers used via Paypal.

PayPal were given 40 days to dispute this, which they did but offered zero evidence to counter everything I'd sent to prove the fraud.

£26k now back in her account and promptly moved into a different one (Online Bank with "savings pots" that prevents the money being touched unless she specifically makes a withdrawal).

I've also set up a hard limit on withdrawal amounts for the future, so no one should be able to just empty her account.

Incredibly relieved on her behalf and glad Lloyds saw sense, particularly considering how vulnerable she is.
