What "man jobs" have you done today?

This weekend I have finally finished repairing a suspended wood floor (also re routed the radiator pipes under the floor and extended the ring main around so I can have some sockets near the desk!

Also made and fitted a load of shelves to a fitted wardrobe as my chest of drawers is destined for the nursery.

Insulated the garage door with some polystyrene and shiny bubblewrap stuff \o/ It now looks very pretty.

That's a lot neater than mine -I have just used polystyrene and used mastic glue to fix it - Was trying to think of something to cover it with and had thought of that silver foil bubble wrap.

Trouble was last year I bought a made to measure loft hatch in metal - it came insulated and thought I would just cover it with that foil stuff - next time I opened loft door got soaked as the foil created loads of condensation inside so was worried about doing same on garage door.

This door unlike my old one has drain holes along bottom so it could work - all you need now is an electric opener - best thing I ever fitted and quite cheap to buy.

Two coats of paint in master bedroom.

Note to self, never cut in using another tin of paint even though it's exactly the same colour, bought at exactly the same time!

Ceiling tonight and hopefully do final coat on skirting boards.

Painted decking with Ronseal Decking Stripper (1 1/2 hours), followed instructions to the letter, went to scrub the previous year's decking paint off once Decking Stripper had done its magic, cursed Ronseal, re applied remaining stripper, cursed for another while, borrowed Jet Washer and power washed decking, typed email of complaint to Ronseal, read list of 1-star Amazon reviews for same product, scrubbed decking, gave up & called gardner for price to come fix my now horrible looking decking...

Hmm getting anything off the decking is difficult because of the channels used for grip otherwise you could sand or plane the paint off (you'll probably need to change the blade after).

Always mix the new pot with some of the old! ;)

Ripped out the en-suite, all tiles, shower unit, plasterboard in some places etc. Shower to be disconnected later today to get that out so I have a bare room with which to work in.

My wife wanted to tile a backsplash in the kitchen. We didn't get started until about 3pm then hit a snag. I had to go out and buy a wet saw and blade to cut glass tiles and then it turned out that we could get around it without this saw. Anyway, didn't start sticking tiles to the wall until about 6pm, finished at 2am. Just how I wanted to spend my Sunday evening...

Biggest mistake was painting the deck.in the first place! Oil it jet wash and brush then reoil sorted!

The place we rent has decking painted a terracotta like colour, I don't know if it's correct paint but it mostly came off and faded in the rain and it's an absolute death trap to walk on. God knows what the landlord was expecting when they did it.

Looks crap after a while.

Removed all internal doors in my house and sanded them down ready for spraying tomorrow.

Cleaned out the gutters
Installed carpet in the garage as the pool table is coming on Saturday
Fiddled around with the front door lock which I'll now have to replace

I wall mounted the TV a few weeks ago. Pretty chuffed with it really considering I haven't ever drilled into drywall to do something as hang a picture. Got all the cables inside the wall, etc. Now just to prep for the surround system.

I replaced a GFCI outlet in our bathroom, still doesnt work. Then I tried to replace and outdoor tap that's ****ing water everywhere when you turn it on (frost has knackered it) and I couldn't get it out of the wall. Pretty successful day

I put some shelves up in my son's room and wall mounted his baby monitor. That was slightly more successful.

Cut up some logs;

If you have an old tree - and don't use the the wood for firewood - look for wood artists, or wood turners. Naturally the wood needs to be dried out but the cost to these hobbies of wood is now very high.

Hacked back the neighbors ivy and nettle jungle that was tearing my new fencing apart (they were out so I just got to work!) Amazes me how some people are happy to have their garden and home looking a complete state. Given how much the fencing cost there is no way I'm going to let their lazyness cost me more money.

Planted up some courgettes, herbs and strawberry plants and got some troughs ready for more veg planting at the weekend.

Daughter made a right mess of the plaster in the hallway with one of her toys so that's my job for tomorrow :/
