What "man jobs" have you done today?

Had an old HP G6 800 mini with dual NICs that I'd forgotted the bios admin password to years ago, so was locked out of the bios, still worked but it bugged the hell out of me I couldn't access it . The model had some HP bios protection so no quick jumper or cmos fixes.Only fix was a new motherboard or try reprogramming or bying a new bios.

Bought a ch341a programmer from Aliexpress for £2 I think , used neogrammer to grab the bios and RUnlocker to remove the password from the bin dump. Few hurdles to jump and a lot of Googling errors but finally got it flashed with the admin password removed...on you go!, satifying as hell.

Need to break something else now so I can fix it.

Took a pic last night of the external lights mentioned a few posts earlier, and they're really showing up the plasterers work!

That's 90mm EPS external wall insulation with a Caparol silicone render over the top.

That's one of the reasons I've taken on more plastering work in my current home. Some of the ceilings in my current home were been skimmed over artex not long before we purchased and its bumpy as hell. The walls are even worse as the original 50 year old S+C base coat is so uneven the top coat didn't have a chance.

I am fitting lots of down lights internally which exacerbate the issue similar to your external lights. To fix this, as I renovate each room I am removing high spots (top coat and base coat as needed) and raising low spots which are sometimes half the wall tapered with bonding coat before applying the finishing plaster. A right pain but the end result is so much better and when I've asked professional plasterers to do that they never quote as they just want to skim and go.

I've just levelled and skimmed a stepped ceiling and I must take a picture compared to the professional finish an extension part of the house had a few years before we moved in. I may be slow but for me its worth it!

This has turned into a job I really wish I hadn't bothered starting and the rain last night didn't help.

Any way I have 5 cables running out of the garage now. I have no idea which one is which and and based on how things have gone so far they probably wont work when I connect them up

Still need to add mortar back in the path but darkness stopped play

Good work! Yesterday I was taking the floor up in our porch to rebuild it - cutting through the tongues in the boards and came this close to killing our broadband:

Why not just 1 cable to the garage (with maybe a spare) and then just use a switch?

Also not sure what that corrugated tube benefits as you'll struggle to pull through it in the future and could have direct buried the cable.

Also the three cables a brick space apart tend to look neater if you put them all together one under another.

Edit:
This sounds harsh, but I am trying to be constructive not just critical. Sorry

Damn man, why do you have eleventy billion cables going every which way lol?

Had a minor shift in the workshop. Managed to build the power rack and fit the final floor tiles. I have 1 1mx1m spare which will probably go unused.

Plan is to rack out far left - I've bought the cheapie Amazon stuff (45 quid for 1.8x1.8m). That'll house tools out of view of the windows (altho height is on my side). Relocated the chest freeze and IKEA table which I'm desperate to chuck but it is quite useful, and it fits neatly beneath the window. The bike top right will move by the gym gear stuff too; opening up a space for the wood trolley maybe.

Gym area coming together. The mirror that has been with me for 25 years is once again repurposed lol. You can guage my growth at my mum's house from the screw holes where this was mounted. TV will run that cycling software - I have a spare i7 4790k or an old Lenovo laptop that will drive this. I haven't decided which yet. I need a small tray for mouse/keyboard regardless. TV works after 10 years thankfully! Viva curved!

Dolls house and whiteboard for when kid gets bored stiff lol.

Those downlights are always quite unforgiving on surfaces (similar issues with brickwork) but yeah Id probably change them.

Its OK with old brickwork as can call it character :D

Understairs cupboard
Hallway
Living room
Office
One to the back garden for a PoE camera
Other cables include EV charger cable and a bird box with camera

This photo also does not include all the legacy telephone cables I ripped out during this project

I probably have this many cables from rushing into something without actually planning it properly!

I needed a new internet mesh after sending back my Eeros to TalkTalk so this obviously has lead me into planning to build a server rack in the garage with a Unifi Dream Machine and all the gubbins that come with it! Do I need 5 cables probably not! See above regarding my plans!

Depends if it is twinwall with a smooth inner bore, although given the diameter it’s probably single. I’ve been fitting 50mm OD twinwall everywhere under my drive and grden and also two lanes for high and low voltage so I may be a bit keen :D

Is your garage heated or insulated in anyway, condensation or damp could kill your rack equipment fairly quickly.

Can you run gas pipes in ceilings or is that a big no no?

Yes, builders needed to move the feed from the meter to the boiler during work in my partners previous house and ended up going perpendicular to all the joists and joining about a dozen short pieces together through the centre of them.

I definitely wouldn't want to leave it on either the top or bottom of a joist if it were me!

Mark the ends if there is a next time by nipping them 1 to 5 times on either end :)

Genuinely surprised at how clear this looks!
Yeah the mess is a bit stacked the other side but should all be racked away by the weekend. I am in a tricky halfway house now though - it is "fine" but still has a very open to the elements roof, no insulation etc. I think getting it clear and functional will let me get my head in gear for doing a bigger job, maybe.
