Finally 2/3 way though 50+ sq meters of dining room / kitchen / utility tiling, will be please to see the end of it, 600x600 tiles are back breaking.
I want to update this thread tomorrow to say that I've insulated my loft, what are the chances?
It's a job I've managed to avoid for the last 12 months, and "suffered" for it last winter.
What's on the ring? Anything that turns on and off by itself e.g. a fridge?Slightly odd one. Had the 32A sockets ring main MCB trip a few times in the last week under seemingly no load. I understand this likely indicates a short circuit fault. This seems to have coincided with me removing a socket to check it was on the ring and then placing it back. Seems like this activity may be the culprit, but I screwed the terminals back well, I think. Seems to be completely random as and when it trips which makes a short seem odd as I would have thought a short would happen the moment the MCB was switched back on.

May have dinged it screwing the faceplate back on?Slightly odd one. Had the 32A sockets ring main MCB trip a few times in the last week under seemingly no load. Yeah the foam is brilliant. RTFM tho - you are meant to spray it on the board then give it a minute or two to skin over IIRC.Will take a look tomorrow. Failing that, there are some suspect looking sockets in the loft that I think are on the same circuit. These aren't fixed to anything so the wires are more likely to have come loose.
Edging closer to getting the insulated plasterboard on the walls.. Had a practise using the expanding foam as was helping the other half fix some panels to the wall. Seems to cure into a rock solid fixing, which is reassuring. I plan to stick some mechanical fixings in as well for good measure.

Double check them again if you have any more issues. Some of those are literally made of cheese - overtighten them and it destroys the threads, making them become loose, no matter how hard you try to tightenHad a gander just then. Weirdly the terminal screws were super loose. Swear I had tightened them up. Let's hope this was the issue!

Cheap sockets are a waste of cash in all honesty. You end up having to replace them anyway. I tend to use MK all the time, and avoid the cheap and (often) nasty stuff, as it’s more hassle than it’s worth.Yes I will be when I do the final fix into the plasterboard. Perhaps serves me right for buying the cheapo sockets, but thought they'd all have to confirm to a certain level for safety. More likely user error, however...
You will find that as you grow older this becomes a common problem. It all boils down to the fact you can't see anything in front of your nose - That's what I have been told on numerous occasions.Ordered for some cable heat shrink to replace the pack I bought last year but couldn't find it. Guess what, the wife found it with no trouble after the new lot had been delivered.
That's so true. I sometimes can't remember what walk I've taken with he dog the day before. You will find that as you grow older this becomes a common problem. It all boils down to the fact you can't see anything in front of your nose - That's what I have been told on numerous occasions.
