What "man jobs" have you done today?

chain sawed and split about a ton and a half of wood that I got in the summer, put it in the log stores for next winter when its properly seasoned. I have to say, I brought a 2nd hand 5T pneumatic splitter, great piece of kit.

Changed my sons room around. Moved his TV down the other end. Ran 2 x 10m HDMIs and cat6 in D-line trunking above skirting and then hidden in the walls. They all link back to his computer desk area where the stuff is. Keeps it simple and saved me going into the loft, across and back down which would have been hell. The trunking blends with the skirting and is barely noticeable tbh as it's only along one wall. I hard wired his new Firestick with an ethernet adapter so we never have to worry about speeds.

Then I did a new dart board setup for him in the place of the old tv he got for xmas. Winmau triple core blade 6 carbon back (industry standard) board, with Winmau surround and Mission Torus 270 degree light. Light installed with cable in wall and hidden behind the surround so it all looks nice. Made a google/alexa routine so we can say "let's play darts" and the light comes on. :)

Mowed the lawn - since when did lawns need mowing in December?

I mowed it in late November as well thinking that would be good to Feb/March.

Also packed away Christmas!

If only the wife would pack away Christmas quickly, she won't take it down until 12 days after.

Space all cleared for the first half of the shed, greenhouse, solar roof build. Can fit the first 3.6 x 2.9 part of the build to fit the contents of the current shed, so i can then build the second half. The space was formally sued for this greenhouse i built in 2021

Although it did seem to enjoy the first batch of poison and took it all, it didn’t come back for more of the second batch. ******* chewed through the decking, then through the wall of the summerhouse and then into the desk drawers (fortunately the only thing it couldn’t chew through was the armoured cable). The bird seed will in future be stored with our cats.

Been debating about when I rebuild my shed/cabin this year, what to do with existing tools and "stuff" in there as I don't have a garage to store it all in. Was thinking of possibly jacking the thing up and sliding it over accross the garden just with no floor (it's all rotten) on top of the astro turf, or maybe I could put some matting down. Then it would be a kind of stronger "temporary" structure. By temporary, such is the nature of my man jobs, this could mean for most of 2025. ;)
