What Retro Games Are You Currently Playing?

Arcade version of Ghosts and Goblins. Managed to complete it using many many save states....so cheating....
To be fair the game is totally relentless and infuriating but still good fun.
I'm undecided whether to keep playing it to see if I can ever complete it without cheating. It's a bit of a grind I'd imagine

and that’s where people who game these days don’t understand the frustration of 3 lives for a whole entire game lol

@Spacedeck PES is where its at for PS2 football games! what other games are you into? GTA Vice City and San Andreas, God of War, Metal Gear Soild 3, ICO are all worth a go.

I'm up for anything really. I'm trying to avoid games that was remade for later consoles or those that have had an PC release on something like Steam or GOG.
Anything that was exclusive or any good games which might have been made for PS2 and Xbox.

The last few days I've been messing about with my Retroid Pocket just trying to get a frontend sorted to make it more pickup-and-play.
I watched a Triple Jump video this morning where they rated Ghostbusters games and it got me interested in Ghostbusters 2 for the Game Boy.

Just had a quick play of the first section, and really quite liked what it was doing. It's so simple, blast the ghosts to stun them and use your AI team mate to throw the trap. The first boss in the court room was more dodging the 2 bosses and projectiles, whilst shooting at them. Obviously the AI is ancient, and made to run on a Game Boy, so it exhibits the same level of intelligence as a fly trying to get out a window. Still, it's alright as long as you remember to baby sit.
The graphics look great, and the soundtrack I heard so far is quite pleasant.

Will go back to it later on tonight I think.

Hoping these screens work, I didn't take when enemies were on screen as I had to use android button combo. Need to get a dedicated screeny button set in My Old Boy!

Going back to my childhood for a few nights as its been a couple of years since playing these:

C64: Super Pipeline, Time Tunnel, Bouncer, Disaster Blaster, Space Paws
Mega Drive: Landstalker, General Chaos

I ONLY play Retro games.
Turns out I simply dont like most newer games.

UT is about my last favourite games... UT2003 was fine, but 2004 solved the issues, UT2007 and that was renamed UT3 was kind of semi ok-ish
But they did do a rehash of UT Classic but that kind of went nowhere fast.

It was teh same with the DAWN of WAR Series... Loved the originals up to SoulStorm, DW2 was a bit iffy but got better with chaos and sorted itself with retribution, but DOW3 again kind of lost it.

So, newer games simply dont do it for me.

Bring back ET on the Atari 2600 - Ok, maybe not!

But Im play SoulStorm mostly these days.

I really liked the original Dawn of War, but never got into number 2. Need to give it another go. I hear 3 is just not so good, and they dropped it pretty quick.

For retro games just now, I've been having some sessions with Zelda Oracle of Ages before bed the last few nights. Only first 2 dungeons so far, but it seems excellent.
I'd quite like to see the Oracle of Ages/Seasons games get the Link's Awakening treatment, and see a Switch remake with that awesome art style.

Been playing Exolon and Head over heels on Amstrad. I didn't realise how good a machine this was being a poor Speccy owner back in the day. I did though go Amiga and then PC after and here I am today. Need to get my hands on Valhalla on Amiga if anyone remembers that great game.

I recently beat Deadaus which is a new Gameboy game and i also beat Kid Dracula for the first time.

I also got the Sonic C64 Port and had a quick blast on that.

Not sure if this is classed as retro or not, but I mainly play (or spectate) OpenRA games. https://www.openra.net/download/

It uses the same base files from the original games, e.g. Redalert 1996. Just with a nice quick and easy to use game lobby and some balances. I only play redalert but it has a very active community on forums and discord with a ladder. There are some VERY good players who play often, some from Starcraft days, some new younger very good players

Edit. I remember it was one of the first multiplayer games I played. Around 1997 over dial up to a friend. It was terribly slow and there was around a 50% chance of disconnection half way through a game. One game lasted over 2 hours and over phonel ine this wasnt cheap! My dad was not happy when he got the phone bill :D

My friend would bring his PC around to my house (and mine to his) so we could play Redalert and Blood over null modem connection. The difference was night and day

Used to play OpenRA surprised its still doing well after the remasters (although they arent exactly... amazing for multiplayer..)

Been really getting into startopia lately. Originally trying to play it on my retro PC but eventually giving up and playing it in glorious 1080p on my modern machine. Considering doing a review of it as I have not done anything on youtube lately and there doesnt seem to be a great deal of reviews on it.

I been playing the following:

Theme Park - DOS version
Roller Coaster Tycoon - Windows 98
Roller Coaster Tycoon II
Colin Mcrae Rally
Ridge Racer
DOOM II - DOS version
Lemmings - Windows 95
Star Wars - Windows XP

"The Secret of Monkey Island" (VGA Version)

A classic of my childhood - this and its first sequel are my favourite LucasArts games. Though, to be honest - I was more of a Sierra fanboy than anything. 06LL19t.gif

Now, how do you get that damn fish.. cvUwkmZ.png
