What retro things have you done today?

I'm not sure what retro activity to get up to today. Either set up my ready-to-go W98 pc and play the GoG games I bought (UT99, Empire Earth 1, Blake Stone, Quake 1) or set up my Amiga or set up a general Windows 7/ 10 PC to play pretty much any of my CD/DVD games...

Total anihilation is free on GoG right now if you fancy that.

Any of this retro crowd got the red alert/cnc remasters? Already clocked a few hours in that.

Picked up the case today. Now its no big brand special but scrubbed up very nicely and is a very sturdy build. No flimsy panels on here.

The front plastics might be my first go at retrobrighting too which could be fun... Think I am going to move the P3/voodoo system into this as I feel desktops were on the way out by this time and that is more suited to a tower.

SC-88vl, i wanted general midi compatibility but also a reasonable approximation of an MT-32, seemed like a better compromise than just buying an MT-32.

Unit is coming from Japan so will take some time.

Nice! I'd love a SC-88VL, to rich for me hahaha so my SC-155 will have to do. What Sound Card you going to connect it to?

I managed to win that Power Leap Sloket. £21 shipped which is a bit of a bargain! Will be interesting to see what CPU is under the HSF.

I was watching it and wondered if someone from here won it. Glad we get to find out what CPU is in it :)

Oh so you were the person who outbid me :(

I set my limit to £20 shipped.

@cee-S-dee Much like everyone else here it seems I was watching it, didn't plan on bidding though as the only Slot-1 board I have isn't really usable until recapped. Think you got it for a good price, I half expected it to go for something silly like £50-60 given how uncommon they are! My guess would be it has a Celeron under there for 100FSB, but we'll have to see...

Got an ISA ES1868F with MPU-401 through the gameport, seems to be a good card due to a lack of midi bugs.

If the above card not work well (issues with not using intelligent mode etc) then i will hunt out an ISA midi interface card, you can buy one new here also: https://www.serdashop.com/ISA-MPU-Card

Most were Celeron 1.2GHz, and that’s an early PowerLeap (floppy connector for power not the proprietary 3-pin). The later ones came with the 1.4GHz Celery.

I bid £31.78 as i thought it would actually go for a bit of money.

They are indeed uncommon and kinda surprised it went for what it did. I have an Asus P2B 1.12 and a Gigabyte 6BXC 2.0 to test it on. Would be even more of a bargain if it was a Pentium Tually. I have a feeling you will be right being a Celly.

I think you won't have too many problems with the ES1868F. You can always use SoftMPU if needed. I have a MusicQuest MPU-401 card and i hardly use it.

Just saw this post in a FB group so it looks like you nearly paid more haha :P
