What sort of headphone do YOU use?

I got them free with my w800, my girlfriend uses them all the time as she doesn’t particularly care about sound quality to any degree, which is lucky as they are truly, truly awful. I have never heard another phone with such an unbalanced sound signature; the completely uncontrolled bass ruins the whole sound, imo.mrk said:

The only headphones I have are my EX-71s and Beyerdynamic DT 231s which are supposed to be isolated but seem to leak a bit of sound. I've never tried any other headphones so I wouldn't know anyway. These are driven by my Azur 540A which is connected to my EMU 0404.

If thats true then they royaly suck. I racked up a lot of hours with them while i was saving for a new player to fix my broken one, and i can tell you this, i was glad when i could start using my MX500s again.

Had some EX71 Sonys, but the wire has started to fray on them after a mere 6 or so months. Very disappointing quality build wise, liked the sound personally.
Though just got hold of some Koss Porta Pros and they are outstanding for the low price.

Since first posting in this thread I've owned Sennheiser CX300 which I thought sounded pretty good (far better than EX71) but I hated the way they amplified sounds from the wire or your body so I couldn't use them. Then I bought the Koss KSC-75s which I now use all the time out and about, for £15 I can't believe how good they sound, although they're not for the fashoin-conscious maybe. Impressed by those I then picked up the £25 Koss Porta Pro to replace my Grado SR80s (which I sold) and they're superb too. I can listen to those for hours.
If anything the Porta Pros are more enjoyable than the Grados due to the wider more open soundstage.
Next phones on my radar will be some AKGs, possibly the K 240 Studios.

i really want the koss 75's, but i got a free pair of westone UM-1s this summer and am very impressed. Made my realise how detailed and sharp grado's are. But they destroy my ex-71's, plus people can;t notice them until their up close, then think im wearing hearing aids

I've had mine for 6 months now and they are like I'm wearing my floorstanding speakers on my ears
Best headphones purchase ever and I am VERY glad I returned the Grados for them. much nicer in every aspect.

veg, what do you think of the ex90's?
i got some ex71's. when they die ill buy some new ones. untill then...well, im a tight git
as for the w800/ex71 fiasco....i dont believe they are the same. certainly they are different outer designs but i agree with others they sound totally different to ex71's.

The sony EX90's are fantastic - so much better than the EX71's - theres no comparison.
