It's not a bad thing - some countries have national service, and it helps build discipline and character, and gets you perhaps that little bit more ready for the long road ahead. I do think the UK badly needs it.
North Korea has it...hmmm

Even if that is the reason behind it, Greeks I've known in the past have not had anything bad to say about their term of national service. If anything they've said it helped them grow into mature, well-adjusted and disciplined individuals. That's only because of a certain neighbour, so the goverment needs people trained up in case of a war.
What type of society uses a low-level sonic weapon on its children?
soylent green.
National service does not mean violence is ok or that you have to become a trigger-happy madman.National service no way i refuse out right to fire a gun. yes you get people more disciplined but your also saying that violence is ok.
They'd soon learn to shut their trap.Would you also want to be stuck with a load of ****'s for 2 more years after school?
Why not try and come up with a way of tackling the route of the problem? IMO that's where these type of people live, how their parents bring them up etc... rather than scapegoating that national service would solve all problems and put discipline. If it's anything like the army then I think it would create even more problems, chavs in a position of power?

We don't vote who gets to be PM, votes are counted on a constituency basis instead of actual votes...Supposed to live in a democracy, and forced national service isn't part of that deal.
