What to upgrade?

ah, i found the connection for it, was stuffed behind the cooler.. However, i have no idea where to plug it into? there doesnt seem to be a free connection.. and the cable doesnt seem long to stretch anywhere. Ive checked the motherboard manual but still not sure.

Any spare fan headers on the board?

Or you can plug it into the PSU using a "Molex pass through to 2 pin fan cable"

Molex is the larger 4pin connections on a PSU.

You can get an adapter cable that plugs the fan into one of these connectors.

ok slightly confusing, the black yellow and red cables from the fan, seem to join up with a cable coming from the sound card, which then plugs in to th audio in thingy on the board. then cable come out of that, for a few inches with a black 4connector thing at the end of that? The fan connector on the left side on that pic is covered by my sound card also.

OK black 4 pin connector thing i assume looks like this

it should be able to plug into the fan header under the sound card using only 3 pins.

you might have to remove the sound card to connect it then refit the sound card.

hope this helps.

its actually different to that :s has 2 rows of pins, 5 on each e4xcept the top layer, the secondf one in theres no hole,

*o***
*****

basically like that, the "o" being the black gap, * being the hole

I think what you're referring to is the sound connection for the front jacks on the case?

like this:

In which case, plug the "HD audio" cable in the right place on the motherboard, and the other one which is attached just leave. You only need one of them.

i watched them videos you linked on youtube in a different thread on how to build a pc last night, which gave me a good idea. Il order some thermal paste and give this a go.

Do i need the TIM remover to get the old stuff off or isit doable without?

TIM remover is just isopropyl alcohol / rubbing alcohol. But yes, i'd definitely clean off the old stuff first.

Edit: I'm not keeping up to date on this one, oops :p

i did think it was bit odd that it would have been joined with the audio cable but i thought maybe just twisted together.

Soted it! was behind the sound card, looked like the wire was part of the soundcards one, but the black wire was tangled with it so that was why. The connection wasnt fully in and had dust between, so cleared that replugged and its working again :D cheers guys!

now to overclock finally, still shittin it on that tho cuz i know ima panic if it doesnt boot or something lol

Now get a pic of the temps up again with the extra fan working and now that paste has had a bit of time.
