What TV shows are you currently watching

The Handmaid's tale, about 7 episodes in and I'm finding it very hard going.
As in boring or the subject matter?

I found the first season gripping, 2nd season mostly good then never carried on (think I had a misery hangover). There are a lot of moments throughout that made me quite uncomfortable.

I thought at the time the topic was a bit far fetched but having watched the regression of America over the last few years, it doesn't seem that far off the realms of believability now.

I loved the book but didn't make it through the first season. It's just so unrelentingly grim and feels much more voyeuristic in the series.

Almost every detail in the book (although obviously not the combination) is based on real historical practices.

Finally got round to watching Better Call Saul. I'm on season four now so I'll probably watch BB again straight after. The quality of both these shows is outstanding.
As much as I liked BCS, I don't think I could ever rewatch as anything with Chuck was so tiring and dull. Maybe just fast forward those parts.

BB on the other hand i've watched through 3 times.

The recruit (netflix) Popcorn TV with the CIA quite enjoyable tbh.
I'm halfway through, about to start ep 5. I may as well finish it now, but a bit too much comedy for my liking. No big deal, but if it had "comedy" in the description I probably never would have started it!

Finding it boring and a bit OTT, looks good in 4k though.

Might have to get the books as I doubt I could waste 30 hours or more on this.

Slow Horses S1. Was a great intro and I had hoped they would lean into the black comedy of it more, but it all became a bit too serious and formulaic too quickly. This is just another Line of Duty / Bodyguard / Luther in a different skin.

Not sure I will bother with S2. As much as Gary Oldman is great, he isn't adding much value to this.

The original is a masterpiece. The second was Atwood succumbing to pressure from her publishers and isn't on the same level (although still readable). As I understand it, most of the stuff from the book is exhausted in the first season, could be wrong about that?

I've had Mr Inbetween recommended to me from various people over the years but always forgot to follow up on recommendations. Browsing D+ the other night and noticed it was there and quite short episodes so decided to give it a go as wife was putting our son to bed.

Watched 4 episodes so far and all I can say is what a great little show - basically a low key Australian crime/dramedy with a solid anti-hero.

Rated as 8.6/10 on IMDB which seems a little high from what i've seen so far but an 7.5/10 rating is about right.

Threw me seeing Dewey Crowe from Justified, had no idea he was Australian.

Shame to hear that, this was going to be a show I started soon. I believe Oldman said this is his final acting role too before retirement.
I am not saying it's bad, but I expected more.

Also follows the BBC tradition of 6 eps a season so not too much investment. However the eps are shorter than 1hr so not quite the runtime of BBC

I don't mind 6 episodes of tight writing, i'll take it over 90% of fluffed up 10 episode Netflix runs
