What TV shows are you currently watching

This is just another Line of Duty / Bodyguard / Luther in a different skin.
All of which are great TV, no? "Oh jeez, they've gone and made more great TV... can't they do something different?" :p Also, I would say it's different. Yes, it's a cop/detective show, but if you're being that broad your list would go on for pages...
Shame to hear that, this was going to be a show I started soon. I believe Oldman said this is his final acting role too before retirement.
Personally, I'd highly recommend it. Oldman is a fantastic character too.

Master of None. Nice easy watching and some of the characters are superb, especially Arnold.

Finished the Patient, really enjoyed that one.

Trying to finish 1899, but otherwise don't seem to have much on, although will be watching His Dark Materials and Slow Horses. Will browse back through this thread for suggestions.

It helps to know what you’re in for. If you want more copy-pasta bbc style defective drama, you’ll be fine.

Can’t fault Oldmans performance, he’s working with the script he’s got…. Which i think was originally written for his sister :P

The Inside Man.

I'm so glad I decided to watch this as it is so far, fantastic.

After feeling deflated and disappointed by watching The Responder, this has blown me out the water.

Very, VERY dark subject matter but honestly, so funny too.

I'm half way through episode 3, and only one more to go, so I'm hoping to not feel disappointed by the ending.

It is not often I go from belly laughing out loud to gasping with shock and horror.

My favourite quote from it is "Everyone is a murderer. All it takes is a good reason and a bad day".

How does it compare to the Spanish one?
If you are non-spanish, I would say the Korean one is better. I live in Spain so the original still has the edge, for me.

Basically, any mistakes that were made in S1 & S2 of the Spanish one, are somewhat rectified in the Korean remake. Basic story is 90% the same, but the 10% they decided to change, really gives it an edge, in terms of the story(telling).

In terms of Length, its less episodes than the Netflix cut of S1 and S2 (22 x 45 min epsiodes), but the overall length is probably nigh on identical. The original Spanish cut had 1 hour + episodes and the Korean one sort of mimics that.

Edit: Much less focus on teh romance and a lot less flashbacks in the Korean one as well. It's also political, whereas the Spanish one wasn't. Basic North/South Korea stuff, nothing you need a History lesson for!

Yeah same here. To me its just meh. Cant understand all the hype and rave reviews of it.

Yeah, the recommendation I had said the first 2 eps were slow, then it picked up... but I don't see it yet.

Apparently the ending of the first season is amusing - according to the mrs who had it on in the background while working & she was bored for the rest too :/

Just finishing up The English Game, a cracking historical miniseries about the early days of the FA and the first professional players.
Maybe it's just me but, Emily Blunt notwithstanding, I really didn't rate this show at all. I know it's had rave reviews but I was really rather bored watching it if I'm honest. Mum mentioned the same to me when I spoke to her, and clearly for her EB was not an excuse to even try and like it. :)

Emily Blunt wasn't in The English Game? Are you perhaps thinking of the similarly titled The English?

i am indeed and just noticed my error before I saw your reply :D. As for The English Game ... zzzzzzz football zzzzzz, worse than The English* :)

* I'm sure it's a good series but I have absolutely zero interest in football

I'm with you on this one. Felt this started out ok but really held little intrigue. Sets and performances decent enough, learned a bit of history but ultimately left not hankering for a second season. 3/5 max for me.

I really enjoyed it the more it went of from about episode three and then when Ralf Spall came in it went up a few notches as the story started to unfold.

You don't really need to be interested in football. The story is one of class, prejudice, love, and loyalty in the 1880s. It's based around the early days of the FA, but none of the plot hinges on an understanding of football.

The guy behind it, Julian Fellowes, is the same guy that was behind Downton Abbey. If you like (pseudo-)historical dramas it is worth checking out regardless of whether football floats your boat.

Thanks for that really useful summary, you’ve convinced me to give it a go!

I've had Mr Inbetween recommended to me from various people over the years but always forgot to follow up on recommendations. Browsing D+ the other night and noticed it was there and quite short episodes so decided to give it a go as wife was putting our son to bed.

Watched 4 episodes so far and all I can say is what a great little show - basically a low key Australian crime/dramedy with a solid anti-hero.

Rated as 8.6/10 on IMDB which seems a little high from what i've seen so far but an 7.5/10 rating is about right.

Threw me seeing Dewey Crowe from Justified, had no idea he was Australian.
Halfway through season 2 now and i'm raising my score in line with IMDB to 8.5 - there is such depth to this character and subtle incidents throughout that flesh this story/world out to something which feels believable and not just written for TV.

Have to admit some moments of violence/murder took me by surprise as hadn't initially realised he and his friends were that far into the criminal life.

The episode where he's explaining birds and the bees to his daughter had me chuckling.

On episode 6 of house of the dragon.

I don't even know what I'm watching. Seems fairly terrible so far

Does it get better?
Watched three episodes so far and not feeling the love. More like a soap than a historical fantasy drama.

Can't put my finger on what's wrong but the following doesn't help...
Matt Smith (not his fault) is so typecast as The Doctor it's impossible to really take him seriously and I keep expecting the Tardis to morph in at any moment.
The outrageous blonde wigs.
Rhaenyra is annoying.
The dragons look like bloated stick insects, nowhere near as dramatic or impressive as GOT prime. They are also being way over used, in GOT the build up was gradual and they were the "nuclear" option going into battle.
No side stories or interesting characters like Tyrion, Theon, Brienne or Samwell.
They couldn't even be bothered to change the main title theme music.

Maybe it gets better.

Just glad we only bought the Blu-ray and not the 4K version.
