What "unheard-of" bands do you like?

I like Ex-Girl. Happy, bouncy and completely bizarre japanese all girl band.
Also, Licking Chocolate Jesus, my mate's band. Can't link to them due to swearies!

EDIT: Oh ffs, might have guessed Scam would beat me to it.

I see your Capdown, and raise you Streetlight Manifesto.

Actually, I don't think they're from the UK. But they are damn good.

SM are American afaik, they formed from members of Catch 22, which are also excellent. But i think Capdown do the 'core' in 'skacore' slightly better than SM or C22. Although SM does have the horns... hmn.. its a toughy :p

Just going to SM's website, it seems they've been robbed at a gig - again! I've heard of people stealing stuff from Big D as well - whats the deal, why would someone steal equipment from a poor band like Big D or SM!!? :(

Streetlight Manifesto are releasing a cover of Catch 22's Keasby Nights album :p

A few ska bands l've liked for years are Evil Macaroni and Lightyear.

Seriously? I thought they got annoyed with people requesting songs from that when they played. I never bought Keasby Nights but its considered a classic (what i've heard is excellent!) - i'll definately have to get that!

Oh and as we're talking ska, check out Pama International. "Dub fuelled ska rocksteady and reggae" (= awesome chillout). :)

Yeah, the original is quality, especially the title track. I've heard some of the new album and it's very similar.

Nah. I was all set to, but I felt really rough on the day of the gig and ended up staying in. Really annoyed me that did, I haven't seen them in years. :(

Whereabouts are you now then? I'm on the bottom of Newland Ave atm, so must not be that far apart.

Capdown arn't 'Unheard' of! With a few albums under there belt and good ones they be.

catch 22 and capdown arnt un heard of its hard to know any1 whos into that type music who dont know who they r
and if they are then we might aswell add floggin molly and bikini kill

My additions:

M.A.S.S. - girl-fronted indie/rock band

Dive Dive

The Broken Family Band - cambridge-based indie/alternative/country(!) group - absolutely brilliant live - seen them at least 5 times

Goldrush - Oxford-based indie band, quite chilled out. Were signed to a major in the wake of Coldplay in a A&R rush to find similar bands  but didn't work out for them.

The last band is particularly of note for people wanting to see small/up & coming indie/rock/punk bands as they organise a brilliant little festival in Steventon in Oxfordshire called Truck Festival - link - which is good as it's pretty cheap for 2 full days of bands & there's none of the corporate rubbish that you get at the larger festivals. I've been the last 3 years & seen the likes of British Sea Power, Buck 65, Mark Gardner etc. there. :)

There are millions of bands out there that deserve more than they'll get.

The 1st band that springs to mind (as I've just heard a song by them) is 65daysofstatic. Rock mixed with electronica.
Ruddy good stuff and they're on tour next month. Go see em play.

My cousin made me listen to Alkaline Trio years and years ago, loved them ever since.

It annoys me when my mate at college said;

You heard "Mercy Me" by that new band? Alkalines Trio?

Alkaline Trio? Yes, not really that new.

Yeah they are, this is their debut single I think

Nah its, not.

It is....

:o

That's strange cause that was the first song I ever heard of Alkaline Trio (although I had heard of them before just never heard their music), saw the video on Kerrang and got the 3 most recent albums from them straight after. They quickly climbed to number one on my favorite band list. :)
