What watch do you wear?

Hi guys,

So I ended up returning the Muhle Glashutte due to nobody local being able (or wanting to risk) cutting the strap to suit/size. Bit of a shame but tbh it was a blessing in disguise as I got this......

RADO Captain Cook High-Tech Ceramic Black Rubber 43mm.

It has a tinted black Sapphire crystal which shows off the skeleton dial which i think is absolutely beautiful! FCW knocked the price to 2395 instead of 3065 which I thought was fantastic as this then fitted in my price range. Superb customer services. Apologies for the poor phone photos but was a bit excited :p.

I don't generally like skeleton watches, but that is really nice! Great deal on it too by the sounds of it. Congrats.

Great choice, the Captain Cook range is superb. One of the best vintage divers out there and we'll priced for the quality.
I particularly like these ceramic versions with applied indices but I'd want one in the 37-40mm range!

I thought the Muhle looked good as well though.

Got the new Barton cordura Hybrid silicone strap today. It's very soft, very nice but they sent me the wrong buckle colour, I asked for gunmental I got normal steel so for now it's sporting the vintage buckle off another strap. Didn't realise it was an 18mm to 16mm taper which is quite nice. I have emailed them to see if they will just send me the gunmetal bucke.

I think I still prefer the Barton canvas blue though, but this will be on rotation with the Hirsch rubber and canvas so all is good.

You can put on a 22mm strap no problem. With all thes ewatches that use 21mm, 19mm etc, just buy the strap in 22mm or 20mm and they work fine. Just keep the Longines springbar.

Great pics and nice Laco @mrk :)

Not sure what I'm going to do when I need a new strap for my longines, as they use 21mm which you just can't buy third party :(
21mm is far more common than you think.... Hirsch/watch obsession do 21mm off the top of my head. I looked into it because one of the watches on my list was a 21mm strap.

If you want to 'struggle' finding straps try finding xl ones (120/100 versus the usual 120/80mm), the options are severely limited.... I find 120/100 just a fraction too short for my taste and wrist size.

I repeat, 22mm straps will work just fine.
Depends heavily on the material though mrk. I've had two 21mm GS, and neither of them worked with thicker 22mm NATOs or my no name rubber strap. A could have faux leather 22mm straps were permanently damaged on the edges by being crammed into the 21mm lug width, but no loss as they were horrible anyway. My 22mm silicone Barton was ever so slightly buckled on close inspection, but worked fine. Seatbelt NATOs worked perfectly with no noticeable buckling.

Speaking of Bartons, they do quite a few 21mm straps.

Cheers for the strap tips guys. I don't fancy paying the £240 longines want for a new alligator leather strap in a couple of years time.
To be fair real alligator straps do come in a little more expensive than normal leather.... and depending on quality £240 isn't that high, hirsch (usually a little more expensive) have them ranging from £25 (fake embossed cow leather) all the way up to £300 (real alligator leather).

I've been wearing the Max Bill for a week now exclusively at work, slips under the cuff with no issues and is so comfortable. I find that it pairs really nicely with a suit, not too flashy, but smart and understated. I can't see me changing the strap anytime soon, as it just works.

I think the £240 was including the butterfly clasp / deployant bits, so maybe cheaper if you can just buy the straps.

I can echo that. Works perfectly with a suit and is a really enjoyable wear in an office setting. So light and comfortable that you don't even notice it's there.

Lovely watch.

I can't tell where your arm hair stops and your hand hair starts :D (coming from a hairless man child)
