Congrats
Cheers
Really pleased with it. Although didn't realize there was no lume when I bought it. I guess dress watches tend not to have it.
Congrats
Family inheritance. The face is too small for my wrists so my mrs will most likely use it most of the time. What's the story?
Hi guys,
What are your thoughts on this Muhle Glashutte Seebataillon GMT. Be interesting to hear before making the commitment with a jewelers to have the strap adjusted/cut.
I managed to pick it up for 2100 from FCW, instead of 2720. After looking around local jewelers yesterday and trying several different ones on, Tudor, Oris, Seiko etc (the majority at 41-43mm looked like a grape on my wrist.
I looked at a few pre owned omega seamasters but they were all at 41mm in my price range which were just too small.
It's rather large at 45mm and the angle of the last photo makes it look larger than what actually is (she said) need to get the strap cut to suit but will try book an appointment at a local jewelers.
It seemed to tick the majority of boxes, size, rubber strap, diver style, girth weight etc.
The only con I don't like about it is the strap is a cut to size strap, where as I sometimes like to slacken a rubber strap off if sweating.
As someone who is 6ft 4, 16 stone and has an 8 inch wrist with a roughly 2.5inch 'diameter' top view (wrist size being the key measurements imo) I'd say that looks a little big imo.
To be fair, pilots watches were traditionally meant to be larger... although at 47mm you might be close to bringing back the fashion of clocks round necksI was looking at the Oris Aviation big crown pro pilot meters, but that comes in at a whopping 47mm and 17mm thick!! good job I didn't....the comments would have came thick and fast
It's a bit above your budget, but have you considered a used IWC Pilot? Maybe the big pilot or the pilots chrono? Would probably hold its value better too.It is nice to get other people's opinions though (who are more watch savvy) albeit not important so long as the purchaser like you say likes it
I think what contributes to it making it look even larger is the strap is not adjusted so adds even more bulk. It currently would fit as an ankle strap!

I could probably just about pull off the 55mm with my 8inch wrist but I wouldn't want to and like I said in the edit I picked the 41mm of the oris I have because I just preferred the way it looked overall on my wrist, even though the 44mm would have been fine too.... the joys of a bigger wristOG pilot watches were 55mm
Dunno about you, but anything larger than 40mm on a pilot watch will just look too big for me if the original straight style lugs are on that watch
