What watch do you wear?

Anyone have any thoughts on Fossil watches?

Saw a nice looking all black one called Nate, but not sure on quality etc.
I think the the majority if not all are quartz so the movements in them will be very cheap, not a bad thing in terms of keeping time but from a engineering perspective not very impressive so I'd consider overpriced for what they are (like all fashion watches). But if you like the design and are happy with the price it may suit.

I'm actually, disgustingly, giving thought to buying a replica watch of good quality. I live in Switzerland, and while i'd love to spend a months salary on a nice watch, i'm simply not in a position or mindset to do so. If im honest with myself I just want a nice watch as a fashion accessory rather than for love of having an amazing watch, so I figure if I get a good replica, then no-one will question it as here in Switzerland it's nothing unusual to see Omegas, Tags, Rolex's etc etc... and certainly no-one (other than anyone who knew me well, but id admit it to them anyway) would ever suspect me of buying a fake. Only I kwould know, and my conscience would be cool with it.

Yes, I know you watch lovers are now sniffing the air in disgust... but can anyone recommend a good replica company? :D

EDIT - Just seen this place http://replicaperfection.com/

Seems the replicas are also made in Switzerland with ETA movement... making the replicas better than most genuine but non-Swiss watches out there anyway!

I have seen a lot of Chris Ward watches on here

Where do they stand in the quality stakes as I hadn't heard of them before
Are they better than Omega or Seiko, do they hold value etc
Im guessing Im asking where they stand in the watch stakes, a general feel for the brand and are they worth 750-1K as I have seen one I like, and Im 50/50 whether to go for it...

I know a guy who got a Hublot Big Bang V2 replica, probably from the same company and tbh it's really good quality. If anyone asks he tells them it's a fake, no point trying to lie.

The only major thing putting me off buying a replica is that they aren't water resistant like the originals. That and there are plenty of really nice niche brands to be had for cheap.

Well, most seem to be water resistant to 10m... and I don't intend on swimming deeper than that to be honest!

Why would I be kidding myself to believe that? It says 10m water resistant on the advert, and you get crappy Casios that are 10m waterproof.

Because they're not, awful tolerances and no build quality at all.

Buying is fraught, full of rip-offs and nasty surprises. If you really want to waste good money, then register here > http://www.replica-watch.info/vb/ go to the trusted dealer area and research the model you want. Get photo's of the actual watch, don't rely on the web images (serious misrepresentation) and pays yer money. Look for the custom made ones, stripped and rebuilt with decent gaskets and water tested e.g. BK Rolex's.

Btw 10m isn't even paddling proof, watch depth ratings is a very odd subject. A 10m/33ft/1 ATM watch is just about up to accidental splashes, don't ever immerse it.

Honestly there are much better options than the best hand worked replica. Even the ETA movements they use in the top of the range 'Ultimate' models are Chinese fakes. I've seen a lot of reps and owned the Rolex, Omega's etc. All in all, for the money I'd look at an independent like below (or maybe a Seiko Prospex like my sig).

I'd put one of Eddie's Everest or PRECISTA models against any cheaper 'branded' watches any day > http://www.timefactors.com/

Or order direct from a watchmaker like the German Roland Kemmner, limited editions that'll last a lifetime for a fraction of the cost of branded stuff, amazing value and quality > [email protected] http://myworld.ebay.nl/erkahund/

If you want branded have a look at a decent second hand seller like Neil at http://www.chronomaster.co.uk/
