@Trick I really want that Speedmaster next, such a fantastic watch!

Gosh the secondhand market is taking a right hammering isn't it? - rightfully so, grey markets getting killed is no bad thing ;)

I have my eye on the Starbuck, as my missus made me sell my hulk when we bought a new property :( Starbuck takes me back to my first lust of Rolex's when I saw Kermit on the tube in London many moons ago. Will probably get one second hand if the ask is a grand over RRP. Has anyone jumped waiting lists for any nice pieces?

You mentioning secondhand has made me think of the 'Clone' market, AA, superclone etc for a fraction of the price of the real thing.....What do you guys think, and are they actually any good, they do look good on the tictok shop lol
Personally need to know I have the real deal on my wrist.

I was in Thailand earlier this year, a lad at work asked if I'd get him a copied Rolex sub. I've bought the super cheap ones off the beach before both their and Bali and they are exactly what you pay for. A load of battery driven rubbish that you'll chuck in the bin after a week and to be honest only barely resemble what they are supposed to be copies of. However this year I delved a little further, my mate took me to an indoor market in Bangkok and they sell the differing grades (under the counter, obviously. You have to ask specifically).
They have the $10 (AUD) rubbish, the next step which are around $150 (after intense bartering:D), then they do one for about $1,000. The difference in the $10 and $150 is huge. Same again for the next one up. I ended up getting a GMT and a green Sub. Thought I'd keep the GMT for myself but only wore it once. I have quite a collection of (real) decent watches, including a Skydweller (most posted in this thread) so never felt the need for it. I gave it to another lad at work for what I paid for it.

Quality wise it was quite good, fully automatic. Decent weight to it but definitely not like the real thing, sapphire glass. Setting the time and the GMT function were a bit flimsy but if you wore it everyday it would be alright. If you gave it a bit of a shake you can hear the internal winder whizzing round which was odd. I can't find a pic of the pair together but this was the GMT.

This is a $10 sub I drunkenly bought on a beach in Bali. Didn't even bring it home.

TLDR: Seem like a good idea at the time but I wouldn't bother wasting your money.

I quite like my Faux-lex :P
The examples above don't look great tbh.

I have a nice DateJust, but this is good for a daily beater as I don't really care if it gets a scratch or two while i'm desk diving.

Was repaired recently, although was more of a restoration (dial, face also had to be replaced). Was tempted to replace it with a new watch with a metal strap as I don't get on with leather straps these days if wear for too long (skin irritation) but as it's gold decided to get it repaired. Smaller and more of a women's watch some say but I only have skinny wrists. Usually wear with suits but don't have to wear those often these days.

Anyone purchased a new GMT or sub recently? Potentially have a contact to get into an AD but waiting to hear back.
Really don’t want to go used but will if I can’t secure one by Christmas. A little present to myself.
