What watch do you wear?

Fancied trying a 62mas so decided on the new 2024 version , is it worth £1380 , definitely not.
It looks fantastic but are seiko no longer the king of cheap and good , a decade ago £200 quid would get you a good watch but now those watches are creeping closer and above 1k.
I think orient are now going to take over the cheaper end of the market.(thats the jap market , not the chinese market)
A bonus though is the date is not on a slant as they normally are at that position ,(gilt numbers instead of white would have been better) although a no date would have been awesome.

I got my Glacier/Blue Birch 62MAS for about half price. It's a lovely thing, and at that price felt like decent value. At RRP? No thanks.

I love Seiko, you could even say I'm a fanboy, but they don't represent decent value compared to some other brands, and especially microbrands. For example I picked up a Wise Adamascus GMT recently, and that's a whole other universe of bang for buck. High beat GMT, 904L stainless, Sapphire everywhere, jewel-like finishing, and.... the bezel lines up.

I finally managed to get one of these. I originally bought one back in 2000 when I was at college as there was one in the window of the local sports shop and I saved up to buy it as I loved the look of it, but it ended up going missing (most likely stolen). I have been wanting to get another for years, but when they crop up from time to time on ebay, they are usually in bad shape and often missing the strap. It cost double what I paid 25 years ago :D . I'm not sure why but people seem to collect them.

I've got a slightly less colourful version I was about to chuck out!

After reading about it in the recent purchases thread, I definitely want to give this a go sometime. I always fancied a Flieger so that might be a good first one to try.

It's irritating with DIY watch club. The issue - and you will hate it once you see it and will never be able to un-see for both of these on the pilot watches:
1. The simple = the dial has "Ref: " on it.. I mean who thought it was a good idea to have a SKU code reference on the front dial of a watch?? It has a lovely case and small winder crown that works really nicely.. except it's all undone with "Ref:".. which can no longer be unseen.

2. The more "advanced" = awful raised watch case (just above the crystal) and really cheap and awfully tacky winding crown. The dial is as you'd expect, minimal with a "D" and a water resistance but that could have been moved to the back.

Grrr.. two designs, the parts not available to adjust either and well.. grr..

I had the impulse for a silver dial watch so I ended up with this recently and I'm happy with that impulse after having it for around 5-6 weeks. I love the way it catches the light, the dial almost changes colour depending on the light around it. Having some busier watches, it's nice to have something that is relatively subdued (re : boring) other than the sunburst dial.

(As an aside, I took these at high iso in the gloom and without much thought just to try out DxO Photolabs noise reduction. It's black magic I tell you!)

Does anyone have a winder/safe combo? Or just a decent general purpose safe? Any recommendations that are good without costing a fortune?
